Well it’s all down to our Junior Colts in the Footy and the U13 and A Grade Netball after the Senior Colts bowed out in a tight one at Hatherleigh.
The Junior Colts came up against a very determined young Tant side and managed to secure a Preliminary Finals berth next week at Robe. It was a heavy track at Hatherleigh but surprisingly good after the drenching rains and the boys down Eagle way did a good job to get the surface ready for the 1st Semi action. Darcy Hogan, Zane Heyward, Ben Squire, Edward Ballentyne, Tom Vanderhorst all played very well and got into the best players while young Brett Russell had a great game getting best on. A Big congratulations to Cory Gamble who received the Best and Fairest Medal and Mansell Medal for the Junior Colts at Sunday’s League Presentation Day. Other winners were Ashley Hales who took out a very well deserved Junior Coach of the Year and Chloe Vanderhorst who also won the League Netball Best and Fairest. Young Tom Tukia also took out leading goal scorer. Such a terrific achievement and the club is proud of you all.
In the Senior Colts the lads fought gallantly against the Hawks but just didn’t quite get over the line. It was a heavy track and our lads took a while to adapt to the conditions. Some of the younger players really stood up to finals action and the whole team can hold their heads high. Best players were Josh Stone, Sam Wallis, Ash Butler, Liam Collyer, Andrew Ridley and Brodie Hogan with 1st best. It has been a great season for our Senior Colts and the club is very proud of their achievements. They have come along leaps and bounds and have been very well coached by Armando and Dave Wallis. You can’t help but feel that the future is going to be very exciting with such depth of young talent and excellent coaching.
Congratulations to our A grade Netball girls who have reached the Preliminary Final for the first time. It is great to see the netball reaching new heights and we should all be at Robe next week to spur all our teams on.
Meals will continue on Thursday night for now and we will let people know when they will come to an end.
Our Club Presentation Days will be the week after the MSE Grand Final. Senior Football and Netball on Friday the 20th of September and Junior Football and Netball Sunday the 22nd of September.
