We welcomed all the Burr Boys, Burr Girls and Kongorong to the ‘Mick and Jean Walker oval” and kicked off season 2013 on April 6th.
It doesn’t seem that long ago we were cheering the junior colts on to their premiership win and sharing in the despair of the A grade when they gallantly fought for their fourth in a row.
We watched all the action from the brand new ‘Can Hill’ and what a facility it is. The incredible amount of hard work from an amazing group of volunteers has created what has to be one of the absolute premier locations to watch a game of country footy not only in the state but anywhere they play our great game.
Massive thanks must go out to Drew and the boys from Blackbird Industries, without them this outstanding achievement simply would not have been possible. Also a big thank you must go to Steeline Mt Gambier and Blade Runner Turf for their incredible generosity. Remember folks we really need to support those who support us and the assistance from the above mentioned businesses has been tremendous.
Most of the hard work is done so all we have to do now is get up to the Hill and enjoy this great game of ours from this great facility of ours.
We start season 2013 with a major milestone. CONGRATULATIONS WILL WHITTY ON 200 GAMES.
So here are the coaching staff who will take us into the rollercoaster ride of season 2013. First up congratulations to Maurie Puiatti who will be leading the A grade in their campaign. Scotty Leslie is taking his outstanding footy career to another level and will be coaching the reserves. Armando and David Wallis will be guiding the senior colts and premiership coaches Ash Hales and Ray Tukia will be having a crack at back to back. Good luck to all our coaching staff and remember folks they need our help through the season and if we all help a little, it helps a lot.
We also welcome aboard David Evens who comes onboard as head trainer replacing Klaus who has moved to sunny Queensland.
Your club executive for the year is President Adam Gardiner, Vice president is Justin Muhovics, secretary is Finchy and treasurer is Ron Buwalda. Thanks also must go to the hard work done by all the committee through the summer to get us up and running for the season.
Anne will be running the canteen again this year and she really needs volunteers to help throughout the season to run what is a vital source of income for your club. If you can help see Justin or Chappy and they will slot you in on a roster. We welcome back Jay in the kitchen for another year and count our lucky stars we have such a great person to run the show there.
Memberships are now due and one of the best ways you can get behind the Mozzies is to become a financial member of the club. See Ron or you can join over the bar at ‘Can Hill’ or the clubrooms.
So welcome one and all to what is guaranteed to be an exciting year of country footy at the Burr “GO THE MOZZIES’
Finally we wish to thank all our sponsors for getting on board this season. The major club sponsors this year are Blackbird Industries, Whitty Engineering, J&A Scrap Metal Millicent, Fasta Pasta, South East Conveyors and we welcome Ranui Transport Millicent and Steeline Mt Gambier.
