The Mt Burr United Football Club have been notified today, August 22nd that they have been selected as finalists in the Local Legends Competition.
The winner will have a famous AFL coach come to their club to provide some legendary inspiration in time for the finals this year or pre-season 2013 – just when you need it the most.
All coaching sessions include a Sherrin prize pack to the value of $500 and a football signed by all 18 AFL coaches and captains.
To enter the competition, club’s had to tell in one hundred words or less about their ‘local footy legend’ who could be anyone from a fan who never misses a game to the loyal lunch lady who’s been helping out in the canteen for the past 20 years.
MBUFC submitted the following 100 words:
Mullet (Scott Bevan) has played his 300th ‘A Grade’ game for the Mt Burr United Football Club. Renowned as a player with freakish natural ability, his unbelievable balance and ability on the left or right side of his body has earned him great respect from the entire football community.
Bevan played his first A Grade Game in 1994, life member in 2006, has played in six premierships, won Senior B&Fthree times; won Under 21 in 1995, leading goal kicker four times.
Bevan says, “The mates I’ve met through the club will be mates for the rest of my life”.
The competition closed 20th August 2012.
In the meantime, try some Local Legends Beef Jerky from Coles as proceeds from every pack go towards the AFL Coaches Association’s grass roots footy coaching initiatives.
