Mt Burr took advantage of their second bye on Saturday June 26th to hold the inaugural “Mt Burr Under The Stars” evening. Camping by nature is more peaceful than everyday life and a social camping night out allowed family and friends a relaxing night away from technology and other distractions. Sitting around the campfire singing and enjoying the natural beauty of the night sky is what camping is all about. Blessed with a calm clear sky, the gathering had good viewing of the full moon and partial eclipse. A stunning bonfire was built over an old tree stump that was nearby to where the RSL Hall once stood. The area around the bonfire was roped off, allowing campers to put their camp site anywhere else within the oval surrounds. Arranged by their social committee, the evening was targeted at families and friends having a fun night out at minimal cost. The kids enjoyed a scavenger hunt, off exploring to find the list of items they were given. Some great camping equipment prizes were donated which were used for raffles and a People’s Choice Best Campsite Award.
