On Saturday the 13th of August we hosted Strathalbyn in good footy weather but what else would you expect at home. The under 14’s had a hard game against a physically bigger side but to their credit they played the game out, never giving up even though we lost 3 players to injury. You are a credit to McLaren boys.
The under 17’s had another good day beating another team vying to play finals football. The most pleasing thing about this group is their commitment to each other as well as to the Club. I’m really looking forward to watching those going up to senior ranks next year as I believe they will be a great asset going into the future.
The Reserves had a hard game against a side with whom we have had good games over the years. Even though we had a win it still isn’t the best they can play. However they will represent our Club in the finals again and I hope that everyone comes out to support them.
The ‘A’ grade played probably their best game this year. Even though we lost by 3 points it must be remembered that Strath are sitting 3rd and we had 3 under 17’s play due to late withdrawals. The game was that good that it actually raised the spirits of our supports who cheered loudly right up to the siren. Well done to everyone, players and supporters.
We have 2 games to go, next week we trek to Langhorne Creek then the last game against Encounter Bay at home. The mini colts have their carnival next Sunday, 21st August, and so they won’t be playing at Langhorne Creek on the Saturday.
C’mon Mclaren fly high to the end.
