On Saturday the 30th of July, we travelled to Myponga where we were welcomed by overcast and foggy conditions which did clear for quite a warm afternoon. The Under 14’s had a good game but were nipped at the post. The Under 17’s had a great day as they played an excellent team-game sharing the ball well with everyone putting in.
The Reserves had a hard game against a much improved Myponga who put constant pressure on ours boys causing turnovers that cost us the game. The ‘A’ Grade also had a hard fought game as they took it up to Myponga for 2 and half quarters however they were unable to maintain the pressure as Myponga ran out the game with the upper hand.
I have a bit of a whinge relating to the extremely poor turnout at the club for presentations. The Under 14’s and 17’s came back to the club in good numbers only to see about a dozen senior players - that is both Reserves and A Grade, attend. I’m aware there were other functions and I’m sure I’ll hear all the excuses later but to be honest it is not hard to plan knowing the times for presentation and it does not set a good example for the colts to follow.
The netballers had a fund raiser at the Club Saturday night and I believe it was quite successful so well done girls!
Cheer on the Mighty McLaren Eagles.
