Well Saturday the 21st was yet another day where we met an awesome foe in Victor Harbor.
The under 14’s and 17’s are trying their hardest but as we have had success in previous years through these ages, it appears to be our turn to have a quiet time. All I can ask of you young players is to keep going and learn the game as you will all improve and take our Club forward in the future.
The Reserves again have shown their worth and with three games to go, should remain in the top three when we reach the half way of the season.
In relation to the ‘A’ Grade, we appear to have hit a hurdle which - for whatever reason - has caused us to stall as we approach the mid-season break. I would just like to say that even though the season hasn’t gone how we had hoped that ALL coaches and players have the support of the committee and it is time some players took a hard look at themselves and took responsibility for their actions.
It is with regret I convey our condolences to the family of George Sauerbier, a Life Member of our Club, who recently passed away. As a sign of respect, our senior players will wear black arm bands at our next home game on Saturday the 4th June when we play Langhorne Creek.
I take this opportunity to ask all past players of our Club to attend our Club whenever they can, as I believe their presence would be a boost for our younger players as they could share their experience.
There is a saying "when the going gets tough, the tough gets going". It is time we show our true colours and get behind our players.
Cheer on the Mighty McLaren Eagles.
