A tough day for our Reserves today playing Goolwa who are sitting 3rd on the ladder. We started well getting a lot of the ball and using it fairly well and went into quarter time with scores locked away. It was battle pretty much all day but at 3 quarter time we were confident that we were close enough if we were good enough. As it turned out we got beaten by a better side on the day. Most of boys competed hard all day but unless you have 21 contributors all day you are going to struggle against good opposition.
Best Players:
- Scoota, who is having a great season playing on the ball;
- Jimmy Durance who is getting more consistent every week and attacks the ball hard;
- Matty Tonkes in his first game for the season play well all day of half back;
- Josh Cooper played well at C.H.B all day;
- Gav Mason rucked all day against a giant and really showed what a bit of determination can do and
- Adam Guy who works every Saturday but had the day off played great at full back.
There is still a lot of footy to be played yet so whilst we have lost a couple in a row in the long term I think that we will be better for the experience as you get to see who has the courage to step up when the chips are down.
In closing, our Reserves compete hard every game and never stick the white flag up but as a team we have a few disciplines that we need to get right.
Cheers,
Dale
