On Saturday the 14th of May, we hosted Myponga on a cool, overcast day with little breeze so it was good for football.
Unfortunately we didn’t quite have the day we were hoping - in fact needing - after our efforts against Mt. Compass the previous week.
Our under 14’s and under 17’s tried their best and never gave up but as the Myponga boys were physically bigger and stronger we were out played on the day.
The Reserves once again are carrying the flag for our Club as they had a good win to justify their place in the top 3. However I don’t think we have seen them at their best and I look forward to their improvement as the season progresses.
Unfortunately the ‘A’ grade came up against a more determined side in Myponga, who will always give you a hard game, as they didn’t allow us to get our running game going. There were good patches in which we moved the ball well but patches don’t win matches.
On a brighter note the “Ladies Day” and “Miss McLaren” events were well organised and attended. I believe that everyone had a good time but Sunday may have been a little quiet. Thanks to Steve Walker, Sarah Gentel, Mark and Tom Curtis and everyone who helped make these events so successful.
Thanks to everyone who helped in the canteen, especially the under 17’s who came in after their match.
Cheer on the Mighty McLaren Eagles.
