Well season 2010 has come to an end but not quite as we had
hoped. It must be said that even though we didn’t win a Premiership I
believe the signs are good for 2011 and beyond. We must remain positive
and look at the “big picture” based on our youth.
The return of
“Auskick” due to the efforts of Peter YOUNG will be a great asset in the
development of our young players. Our modi’s and mini’s had good
numbers and it was quite apparent that they all enjoyed their year at
our Club.
The under 14’s made it to the Finals which showed
their desire to learn and put in the effort, no matter how hard it may
have been through the year. Thanks to Chris Johnson and Dale Wilson and
their support staff for their efforts with this group.
The junior presentation evening was a great success with about 200
players, parents and family in attendance. I look forward to these young
players progressing through our grades to become senior footballers for
the McLaren Football Club.
The under 17’s struggled with numbers
as several were playing at South Adelaide, as a result it was a hard
season but to their credit they fought on valiantly under the guidance
of Jamie Molling. Their determination and “never give up” attitude will
put them in good stead when they step up to senior football.
The
Reserves had another strong year just falling short of a Grand Final
appearance going out in the Preliminary Final. Unfortunately our Mail
Medal winning Captain, Steve Walker, broke his leg in the Qualifying
Final but he was still able to front up, on crutchers and support his
team.
The ‘A’ grade also had a season that didn’t quite go as
planned but again it was a very young side that we fielded and to their
credit it gave us some heart because of their dedication, desire and
fighting spirit.
The Annual General Meeting will be held at the
Club on Wednesday the 17th November, 2010 starting about 7.30 p.m. At
this meeting ALL positions will become vacant with nominations to fill
the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and committee
positions. All supporters are welcome and I encourage anyone wishing to
become involved in the development of our Club to do so at the A.G.M.
Also
I have a request if anyone in the McLaren Vale, McLaren Flat area has a
house with a bit of land for rent please let me know as we have a new
player looking for a property as he has dogs.

President
