McLaren 0.2 (2) defeated by Victor Harbor 10.2 (62)
Best Players: J. ROWE, B. GENOCKEY, B. MUNYARD, P. STEFFE, M. JARVIS, R. DAVIES
Tough day for the boys, playing against the top side in Victor Harbor. They are clearly the best side in the comp by a fair bit.
Our boys battled so hard all game. We were hard at it and won our fair share of the ball but Victors pressure was relentless.
We had some stand out performances from quite a few boys today:
- 1st year player Mitch Jarvis, was very clean with the ball and was not intimidated by the bigger bodies of Victor
- Peter Steffe was again dominant in the ruck and took some telling marks all over the ground
- Brody Munyard playing on the ball was in the packs all day, winning hard footies and his skill level was a highlight today.
- Brad Genocky was outstanding at full back, he reads the play so well and has a lot of ability to make the right decision with the ball under pressure and our best player today
- Jake Rowe playing in the centre was just in and under all day winning the hard ball and his capacity to run hard all day and get to contest after contest was exceptional.
With quite a few going up to 17s next season, it is pleasing to see the boys going up and playing 17s after their game. This will hold them in good stead for next season and Jamie Molling is terrific with this age group in the way he so positive with them and his passion for his players - keep up the great work Moll.
I must say that it is a credit to Peter, Brody, Jake in the way they lead by example at training and on game day. These boys will be terrific leaders of our club in the future.
In closing, to all the boys, stay positive as you all have improved a lot over the past 8 weeks. Training has been hard but you keep doing the work and listening to what we ask.
A special thanks to the people that get us on the park every game: Mike and Pam our trainers, Nick Rowe our team manager, Scott Woresly for helping at training, Glenn Munyard who is a quality person that helps where needed on match day, Brett Allison who fills our water bottles every nite at training and all the other parents who get in and help.
Yours in Footy
Dale, Jimmy and Craig
