Daniel's background is:
- Started
playing juniors in Under 10’s in 1984.
- Played in all
junior teams, and always filled in for an older age group most
- weekends
when that team was short.
- Played in the
Under 16’s Mt Evelyn / Montrose Combined team
- grand final.
- Under 18’s did
not exist for the years Daniel was eligible. He started
- playing in 1991 in
the Firsts from the age of 16.
- He played on
the half back flank in our winning Firsts 1998
- premiership side.
- He was
appointed Co-Captain with Jason Leeds in 1999, taking over
- as sole Club
Captain of the Firsts in 2000, until 2005 when he seriously
- injured his
knee at Upper Ferntree Gully.
- 179 senior
games – cut short because of the seriousness of his
- knee injury.
- He served on
the social committee for 2 years 1997 and 1998.
- Daniel joined
the senior committee as the Player Representative in
- 1997 and stayed on the committee for a further 9 years.
- Daniel took
on the role of head barman for 3 years.
- He was Chairman of Selectors for 3 years
in 2005, 2006, and 2007.
- 2010 – Firsts runner.
Work and family commitments prevented Daniel from performing any roles
in 2008 & 2009, but is now actively involved once again.
It is documented in
our Constitution that a person may qualify for
life membership after
12 years of continuous service, or after 15
years of broken service. Daniel
easily qualifies on the 12 year rule –
especially from such a young age of fulltime commitment to our
senior club.
CONGRATULATIONS DANIEL!!
