Late 1890's-Early 1900s
Kinglake F.C. (Possibly Late 1890s?)[Hawkins, D. "Kinglake-A Pictorial History" (Kinglake Branch Library)]1914-1918World
War I. Whilst not much is known about KFC at this time, I would suggest
that, like most other country places at the time, that the young men
who were fit enough to play football for Kinglake most likely enlisted
to serve in the AIF. More research around this time will be conducted
in the future.

Not a lot is known about Kinglake FC prior to 1930.
What
is known is that John McMahon, born 1876, "..played football for
Kinglake in his youth and in his later years acted as goal umpire and
timekeeper. He also supplied transport for the team for quite a few
seasons..."(Kinglake Pioneering Days p.7) If John McMahon played for
Kinglake in his youth then the club had to exist well before 1930! Our
local rival, Panton Hill formed in 1926 and joined the Bourke-Evelyn
League. If we joined the Bourke-Evelyn League in 1930, what league did
we play in before that and when did the club actually begin? I hope by
reading through pre and early 1900's
Evelyn Observer and other newspapers and archived records I may be able to find out, or if you can help or have information please email me at
