Seniors
Following last rounds disappointing defeat to Berwick, beacy
was keen to rebound against premiership favourites Pakenham. Beacy welcome
Vinnie Sanzaro for his first senior game at the expense of Kelf who was out
injured. Coach Taylor drilled into his players that it was imperative that they
get off to a good start, something they have failed to do for the year to date.
This didnât happen, and at the first change Pakenham had jumped to a 5 goal
lead and had winners all over the park.
The second started the same, with Pakenham kicking the first
to extend their lead, however from here the Eagles began to win first use from
the middle and this lead to scoring chance which the forwards made the most of.
Mislicki kicked a couple of running goals and Williams and Oakley were getting
on top across half forward. At the main change the Eagles had pulled the lead
back to 2 goals.
The third continued to favour the Eagles, the Beacy
defenders were applying intense pressure to their opponents and causing
turnovers. Penglase and Szwaja were winning the contested ball and Gibson and
Linkins provided the drive for the forwards.
The last quarter started with Pakenham up by 2 goals and
Beacy coming, but it wasnât to be. Pakenhams superior fitness on the big ground
saw them run away with a 7 goal win. Although it was a great effort by Beacy
after quarter time it again highlighted the need for a good start.

The Reserves got off to a flyer with Goals to Fisher and
Rose. The onballers were being lead by Olsson and McDermott who attacking the
ball with ferocity. Pakenham kicked a couple of late goals to get back even at
the first change.
The second was a much more even affair, with both defences
repelling many attacks. Benbow, Hynes and Jackson were standouts. The half time
saw the teams again dead level.
The second half saw Beacy take control, VanLambaart who was
playing his first game for the season was dominant across half forward, along
with Rose and Hamilton who were proving headaches for their opposition. In the
end the Eagles came away with a 5 goal win against their toughest opposition to
date.
