Beacy’s 2010 Training Camp
The 2010 preseason training camp was run a little different this year. The boys stayed at the club rooms instead of going away with the idea of meeting the locals and paying the loyal supporters back.
The boys arrived at the ground on Friday where they were smashed until well into Saturday morning.
Saturday morning started with a 5.00 am wakeup call and a meeting with Frank. (Most were still up at 2.00am.) They then set of in 5 groups where they went to the local shops and introduced themselves to the local shop keepers.
The five groups then set of on foot to several locations around the Beaconsfield area.
· 1st was cooking sausages in bread for the customers of our number one sponsor Home Hardware in Beaconsfield.
· 2nd was moving pallets of cement still at Home Hardware the record was six.
· 3rd was to Manic Fitness in enterprise avenue where they run up the stairs as many times as they could in a ten minute period then a circuit of the industrial estate.
· 4th was Wilson Botanical Park where they had to run the steps each group had to run up and back as many times as they could in a 30 minute period I think the record was 17 times up and back down.
· 5th was back to our home at Perc Allison Reserve were the boys transformed the trainers room from a trainers room/gym to a trainers room/meeting room.
At the end all the crew went over to the Berwick Show and supported the club at their refreshment tent in the food court area. Again mixing with the locals as per the theme of the camp. The boys then went back to the club rooms for a meeting and quiet get together.
The work the boys put in was exceptional and the encouragement given to each other was awesome. The effort shown indicates to me that these boys are determined to turn around the last couple of years mediocre performances on the field.
