Stawell Mitre 10 Warriors under 17s will resume training for the new year next Tuesday night.
Coach Andrew Bach has decided to move the training sessions to Tuesday and Thursday evenings, starting from between 4.15pm and 4.30pm at Central Park.
Bach said he wanted the sessions to be over in time to allow those youngsters involved in cricket, to still have the opportunity to attend cricket training.
Numbers were pleasing prior to the Christmas-New Year break and Bach is hopeful to still see a number of new faces hit the track next Tuesday, along with the regular playing group.
He said training had been of a good standard to date and it appeared the Warriors were on track for a better season in 2009.
The under 14 team will also be moving training to Tuesday and Thursday as of next week, with the starting time of 4pm.
Warriors to Tackle Hampden Premiers
2/01/2009
Stawell Mitre 10 Warriors will use a practice match with the Hampden Football League premiers to help shape their 2009 season.
Senior coach Brad Cassidy announced that the Warriors had been booked for a clash with Terang-Mortlake on Saturday, March 21 - two weeks prior to their blockbuster round one clash with Horsham Demons.
Terang-Mortlake finished at the top of the ladder after a season that produced 14 victories and were comfortable 40 point winners over Warrnambool in the grand final. The match will be played at Mortlake.
Cassidy said Stawell would recommence pre-season training on Monday, January 12.
He said he now hoped his full contingent of players would attend training with just over three months until the start of the 2009 season.
``It has been fairly good so far, our numbers have been pleasing enough,'' Cassidy said.
``Now it is January I nearly expect all of them to turn up.''
Cassidy said training would intensify as the start of the season drew nearer, with players given a special fitness program to complete over the Christmas break.
The Warriors will also take part in a pre-season camp in the last weekend of February in Stawell.
