The club has a proud history and can trace it's origin back to 1956 when St.Paul's College entered an Under 16 team in the Traralgon & District Junior Football League. The T&DJFL was formed the preceding year (1955) with five clubs entering teams. Those foundation clubs were Police Boys, Glengarry, Traralgon Juniors, Cumberland Park and Scouts. The St.Paul's team went on to win five premierships in six years and they played in a blue jumper with a white band, a white armband and blue and white socks.
Whilst the team did not have a committee behind it, they never lacked the support of parents, local dealers who provided great financial assistance, and the effort of the coach, Father McMillan. The club's first captain was Brian Hammond who was the T&DJFL Best & Fairest Runner-up in the first year of affiliation, club's Most Talented player in 1956 and club Best & Fairest in 1957.
St.Paul's continued to be part of the T&DJFL until 1966 when St.Michael's Sports Club was formed. The formation of St.Michael's Sports Club and subsequent decision to participate in the T&DJFL is directly attributable to the Assistant Priest of the day, Father Bill Deery. Father Deery observed that since the exclusion of St.Pauls from the T&DJFL many of the parish boys were virtually being lost to football. Father Deery called together Bill Kelly, a former Maffra player, Brian Bricknell, an enthusiastic administrator and Harold Whitty who for some years prior to this had coached and managed St.Michael's Under 14 cricketers.
From this foundation St.Michael's Sports Club went from strength to strength and continued until 1994 when the club's name was changed to Combined Saints in recognition of the major source of players being drawn from St.Paul's, St.Michael's and St.Gabriel's schools.
The club celebrated it's 50th Anniversary in 2006 and the success of the past together with the path to the future is attributed to those parents and supporters who give their time and effort to ensure that players in our club are provided with an opportunity to participate in our national game of Australian Rules Football.
May that support and effort endure well into the future.
