Roy Tweddle Memorial Trophy
Best Club Person
Roy Tweddle’s association with Waaia Football Club was a long and distinguished one.
Roy commenced his football career with Waaia when the club reformed in 1935 and continued as a player until 1955 recording over 200 games mostly as a winger.
Roy was a delegate to Picola Football League for many years and President of Waaia Football Club in 1946, ’47 and 1950.
In 1954 Roy was elected Secretary/ Treasurer of the Picola Football League and continued in that position through until March 1979. Roy retired as Picola Football League Treasurer in March 1983
Widely recognised throughout football circles as an efficient administrator Roy received Life Membership of Waaia Football Club in 1961, in 1967 Roy received a Victorian Country Football League Service Medallion and in 1974 was awarded Life Membership of the Picola Football League.
Roy’s wife Lillian was also a stalwart of both Waaia Football Club and the Picola Football League and was awarded Life Membership the Picola Football League in 1979 and Waaia Football Club in 1985.
The Roy Tweddle Memorial Trophy for Best Clubperson remains the club’s link with the Tweddle family.
