With our 125 year reunion fast approaching all rsvp's are due back now. This is shaping up to be a great back to weekend.
Many milestones this weekend against Jerilderie. Firstly two major milestones of 150 club games for Bianca Bourke and Matt Wooden. A great achievement for both of you, well done. Plenty more games ahead Biance, and Woody - maybe Trish might have other ideas.
Tracy Hocking will be celebrating her 50th C Reserve game this week as will Rhys Morham celebrating his 50th Reserves game. Well done to all.
Back to Kelly's Pub for awards after our games at Jerilderie. Hope to see you all back there.
Under 14's - Another display of good sportsmanship from the Under 14 boys last Saturday against Picola, with all of the boys having a crack for both sides. Three quarters of polished open football with fellas hitting their targets and bringing their teammates into play beautifully. Great to see everyone stepping up with some boys away, backed up by some great training, keep up the great work and our rewards will come.
Under 17's- The boys got off to a slow start, but got better as the game went on. Tom, Tyler and Mitchell all had good games. Dalton and Dylan had great games down back. Jesse was consistent all day.
Reserves - The Magoos faced off against the ladder leaders Picola and found ourselves under pressure right from the outset. The boys did a great job of limiting the damage early as Picola slammed on 3 majors in the first 10 minutes of the game. With an initial defensive form behind the ball the boys battled a slick and hard running opposition and we trailed by 4 goals at quarter time. In the second quarter we again conceded 3 goals in quick succession to have the game slip away and we had to work hard to remain competitive. At the half way mark we were 9 goals behind with plenty of work to do. The last half was almost a replica of the first half with a 9 goal to 2 affair with some good scoring opportunities being created by the Bloods but we were outclassed by the best team we have played this year. The two's were well served by Jordan Poynton, Tim Brunskill, Glyn Matters and Andy Arthur, will all the boys giving their all. We are still a chance to improve our ladder position next week so we all remain positive.
Seniors - The Bloods played host to the top of the table Picola. They showed up with intent to prove why they are on top, they were switched on from the first bounce. Toc's backline were made to work overtime to try and stem the flow of the footy. Keith Baron and Ollie Rennie threw themselves at the ball putting their bodies on the line at every stoppage. A lone goal to Sean Logie late in the first term hoped to spark up the boys and gain some momentum in the second. Unfortunately the boys didn't seem to fire, which is uncharacteristic of our year so far. Dylan Flanagan went into the midfield to provide some drive. Dave Farrell continues to find form. This week we travel to Jerilderie, who have been travelling alright, a return to form is needed if we are going to get over the line.
