What a day last Saturday was with many close games on the cards we came away with 6 wins and courageous efforts in the remaining grades.
Jacinta's 11's, Sharon's 12's & the C Res girls all continued their good form, first wins for the season to both the Fourths and Seniors while the Reserves chalked up their first win since Aug 09 in style.
This was followed by a sensational feed from the netball ladies and culminated with an extremely entertaining and at times controversial Trivia Night. Thanks heaps to Big Carl & Little Pica for their organising and hosting duties and to everybody that donated a prize (I'm sure H will wear his Cats jacket with pride, while Cannons was seen enjoying a Chardy - no glass, in the wee hours of the night).
The Senior game certainly had everyone on the edge of their seats in a gripping encounter that could have gone either way right to the end. He is his own harshest critic but full credit must go to Coach Nathan (4 sausage rolls) & his support crew in Crowy & John T who stuck to their game plan and when the boys put it into practice it was the difference at the end of the day.
While he stands up every week, Benny Sniffa Eeyore Pigdog Phelan was the man. After 3 team lifting goals his move onto the ball followed by a couple of his customised run down scary tackles inspired all, particularly his team mates, no more so than Jossy, who relishing the move up forward, ran his little Jossy bottom off, being a terrific leading target with strong grabs belying his size and finishing with a couple of classy goals.
The K Train & Choco Machine made beautiful music together combining and clearing it regularly at ball ups and created some very critical stopppages just when needed. Ollie the Octopus played a blinder of a last 1/4 when vital, while the very hairy & sexy Pica continued his recent form and now has Amanda's consent to keep the beard forever. It was however a very even team effort which is what's required to win games and I'm sure we are capable of causing a few more upsets before the seasons over.
After struggling for numbers the previous couple of weeks the OC's Magoo's were coming out of the wood works and lined up with a full list. In what was anbother see sawing battle the boys finally prevailed through some of the more experienced heads in Simo & Sutto to record a long overdue victory.
Ryan The Frenchman Philippe was possessed, racking up countless disposals by doing what a small man does best - getting in & under the packs, to be the dominant player on ground while the big men in Daniel Sniffa, Dyl & King Kyle not only gave us good targets but stood strong in defence when needed.
Nato & Mouse Man Poynton also did what they do best and ran & ran & ran providing the carry & link that we so often struggle to find. Again it was a terrific, very even team effort and certainly enjoyed by all.
