On a sad note for the club we would like to convey our condolences to Mary Jeans and family and Allan and Betty Seamer and family on the passing of past player Allan "Yabby" Jeans.
Under 14's - The boys played a tough game against Deni a fortnight ago in what were very trying conditions, freezing cold and with sleety rain. They played well once again and our small boys picked up well to play a great game. Thanks to Josh Chellew for a great game. A special mention to Tayte Wright for his wonderful volunteering all day over at Deniliquin - this young boy outshines a lot of our senior and junior footballers with his keenness to get in and have a go. He played in the Under 14's, then ran boundary for the Under 17's and reserves and then ran water for the seniors. Thanks once again on a great effort Tayte. I wish we had more of you around our club.
Under 17's - A very big ask for the trip to Deni on what was a terrible morning. We had only nine to start the game and it was a credit to the boys that did show up to play. This makes it very hard when your teammates don't contact the coach to let him know of your availability. A very big thank you goes to the young Under 14 boys that back up and play Under 17's week in and week out. It is a credit to you guys for your commitment. Thank you to Troy Bartlett (Deni Coach) for your support with getting a game going. Without your wonderful help we would not have had a game, also to the Deni boys that filled in and played in the red and white, thanks to your commitment and a game well played. While we are thanking people a special mention is to be made of Judy Vernon (Nathan Morton's mother) - Nathan didn't play on the weekend but she still made the trip to Deni to complete her job that she does every week as timekeeper. Thanks a lot Judy for following through with your commitment, it was much appreciated.
Reserves - A good sign on the scoreboard today with the Under 17's posting eight goals. The good effort helped rev up a very keen Ressies side. Thanks today to Brett, Liam & Nick who helped us out with the support of Deni. Once again Thommo, Corey and Messy doubled up with solid performances from that trio. Big Josh, Redman and Corey owned the middle and the good form of Skinny & Troy continued down back. The game was played in Deni's half and it was a credit to watch the boys continue the battle. Redman, Big "Rogan" Josh, Abbo, Skinny & Croc were the Bloods better players.
Seniors - Very windy, cold conditions confronted what appeared to be a injury riddled Bloods outfit on paper with Coach Nathan, Captain Dave, Vice Captains Chappy & Loges all on the sidelines, but there was some growing confidence gained from recent weeks with the boys holding their own against an inform Deni. Johhny, TWG & Chocco continued their good form, Scotty, Harey, Morgs & Timmy B were all solid and Monty snagged a nice goal in the first quarter. It was a day where any opportunity needed to be converted and the Bloods missed a few of their early ones.
Deni started the second quarter with two quick goals and the Bloods were facing the breeze but to their credit Toc held on with Harey (until his fitness let him down), Scotty, Hickey & Clucky repelling the Deni attack. Johnny was good again, Choco, Morgs and Daiks started to get their hands on the ball and Timmy B was setting the standard for tackling and desperate play which resulted with another good goal from Monty. Deni started the third term the same as the second with a couple of quick goals and threatening to blow the game apart before Pica chined in for a much needed goal. Deni however were adapting to the conditions better and had posted an 8 goal lead by three quarter time.
Deni had too many winners for the day and although the endeavour was solid from the Bloods there were too many errors to place enough pressure onto Deni.
