Welcome to all our members and supporters to season 2011.
After a very successful 2009 season, on and off the field, the club's 2010 season proved to not have the same rewards. Apart from our A grade netballers having a great year and playing off in the grand final all other teams will be looking for improvement in 2011 and the A grade netball going one better than runners up. With the contrast of the past two seasons fresh in our minds it is our hope that all supporters will get behind the club to help us get back and also increase our success for the 2011 season. Your attendance at games, training and social functions is greatly appreciated and creates an enormous feel of support around the club.
On the football front we have appointed Nathan Tresize as senior coach, Ken Chellew - Reserves, Rod Meloury - 3rds and Peter Howell - 4ths and we wish them all the best for the coming season. We have also recruited several new players and hopefully they will play a part in getting us back on track towards our future success. The 2010 season saw our younger local players having to step up, making them better for the challenge and possibly be the difference in the improvement we are looking for in 2011.
2011 is shaping up to be a really good year for the Tocumwal netballers. There is still a shortage of players but already we have able to register an additional senior team to last year with our A, B & C Reserve teams training and getting ready for the start of the season. Trish Wooden will be coaching the C Reserve and U/17 sides and has been doing a fantastic job of getting us all fit!! There is also some talented juniors who are looking forward to continuing to develop their skills and having a fun time in the U/11 & U/13 sides.
The girls are also looking forward to the arrival of our new uniforms. Going for a new look this year so keep an eye out for those!! And please support the chocolate drive to help with funding for these. We are also calling for parents, supporters & players to help out with umpiring, scoring & primary care on game day. As well as cleaning up after home games. So anybody that can put their hand up to support the people who make game day happen each week would make a huge difference. See Katrina and she will point you in the right direction.
To encourage membership and support we will be once again holding the members draw on Thursday night. Come up and have a few drinks and a great meal supplied by our resident cook - Natalie Brentnall whilst watching the boys train. A menu for the coming four weeks will be displayed in the Butcher shop and Newsagents window.
Thank you and good luck to all teams for season 2011!!
We would like to congratulate Ashley Pollard and Tim Garlick in making the final list for the Murray Bushrangers. Hopefully we will get to see them play in the red and white a few times over the season. Congratulations also to Ally Perkins and Ashlee Garlick on making their grades in the MFL representative netball teams. Keep making us proud girls.
A BIG congratulations to David Farrell who plays his 205th club game today for Tocumwal. Well done David and hope we get plenty more from you.
Today we meet Deniliquin and hope that all teams do well. We will see you up at the clubrooms after the game.
