Last week started off a beautiful day for footy but ended up very chilly by the end of the main game. Well done to the senior boys, the A grade, 17/U and 12/U girls for their wins last week.
The club would like to make mention of all our wonderful volunteers that help out on match day. There are always plenty of jobs to do, either at the netball, on the footy field or behind the fence line. If anyone would like to give a little bit of their time feel free to pop into the office and register your name. I am sure we can find something for you to do. Once again without helpers the day would not happen.
It has come to the clubs attention that there is becoming a problem with dogs at the oval. As per shire laws all dogs must be restrained at all times and are not allowed onto the playing arena. Could we all abide by these rules as last week some volunteers had to pick up a few little surprises that were left on the field. We realize that people love their pets dearly but the footy is no place for them, so if you could leave them at home it would be much appreciated.
Under 14's - Another cold start to the day with the boys shaping up to a big Rumba side. The young boys played well with 2 goals scored by Jordan Hicks and Bryce Meloury, who also scored another goal just after the final siren sounded. The young boys once again stepped up to play well so keep it up. The score board is finally starting to tick over. Believe in yourselves boys you can do it.
Under 17's - The boys started off strongly with Will McDonald taking a strong mark in front of goal and kicking truly to get the Bloods on the board. Jordan Haynes was best on ground playing in the ruck all day, he gave his all. Steve Patten found himself in the back line with a job to do and he did it well taking his man out of the game. Jake McCallum played full back for the first time and he played it well to win an award. Thank you to the Under 14 boys who came up and helped out once again.
Reserves - The player shuffle was on again with Toddy, Jordy, Robbie and Croc doubling up. We also welcomed back Pete and Ryan and had special guest "Chris" to run the water. Rumba got the early break with Perko, Reece and Matty having good quarters. The wind blew up in the second quarter giving Bobby, Perko and Cannons plenty of work. Ryan and Reece worked hard and Vanders and Jordy also having good quarters.
With the breeze at our back we put in our best effort. Jordy and Jared won plenty of the ball. Reece rewarding some nice work with a goal to make coach Roe excited. Coach Roe called for a sustained effort to finish off but the Bloods were no match for Rumba.
Seniors - The Bloods welcomed Rumba and as both sides lined up there was a lot of young faces in the starting line ups. An even first quarter with a goal to Nathan and good roving from Choco saw him nail two in succession.
Toc had plenty of the ball to start the second quarter and were rewarded with goals to Whitey and Nathan. An arm wrestle midway through the quarter before Rumba broke clear for a couple of goals to bring the scores closer together.
Rumba drew first blood to start the third quarter after a send off and fifty metre penalty. Johnny Shiels got one back but Rumba were quick to reply. The game now was up for grabs. The Bloods had a good period but couldn't score until Choco chipped in for his third. Leeroy won a tough contested battle with Ben Shiels finishing the good work off with his first. Jack Shannon earned a fifty metre penalty and goaled.
The game again on the line to start the last quarter both sides had trouble finding the goals. Ben Shiels got his second to give the Bloods a mini break. Goals to Josh and a third to Nathan and a third to Ben and the Bloods had a winning lead.
Another great win keep up the good work!
