Well what a shocking day of football and netball on Saturday against Numurkah. We can only skite about one win to the A Grade netballers, well done girls. A big thank you to everyone that attended the Club's Annual Ball on Saturday night, what a great night it turned out to be. I don't think there would've been any complaints from the night - great meal, great band and great company. Well done to everyone that was involved with the organisation of this successful event. A special mention must go to the footballers who after their recovery session on Sunday went back to the rooms to clean up after the ball. Thanks boys a job well done!
Under 14's - Well done boys you played a good game with some great passages of play. Good work to the young boys, moving the ball well we just need to put four quarters of football together. Let's get to training and work well together.
Under 17's - It was a hard ask once again for the trip to Numurkah. Ed, Josh and Hamish all battled really well in the back line. It was also good to see Troy and Hicksy from the Under 14's get their hands on the ball. Thanks to the Under 14 boys who doubled up and to Numurkah for the game, it wouldn't have happened without your support.
Reserves - The trip to Numurkah was again too far for a few but The Bloods had Skinny finally running out for his 50th reserves game. Heading into a strong breeze with the support of Nato, Thommo, Messy & Jesse The Bloods posted a good goal from the inform Pagas. The bulk of the work was played down back with Jack Bunnett, Skinny, Croc and Cannons with plenty of work to do. The second quarter and The Bloods couldn't convert their chances. Redman's good form continued, Cheech was dominate, Skinny and Jack worked tirelessly and Bobby had a running battle with officialdom. Good team work from Cannons to Skinny to Redman to Abbo with the ball ending up with Cheech for a good goal. Better players for the quarter were Redman (again), Mitch, Skinny, Nato and Bobby. The last quarter saw Mitch dominate the ruck and Sniffa having the goal of the year disallowed and continued good efforts from Bobby, Redman and Cheech.
Congratulations to Daniel Phelan on playing his 50th reserves game for the club today. Well done Daniel!!
Seniors - The Bloods were keen to get back onto the winners list and started the game still without Dave and Johnny. Coach Nathan started well with good support from Crawf, Clucky and Timmy B. Balraj was on target early with 2 first quarter goals. Loges and Monty were the other goal kickers but in general play Numurkah had enough opportunities to be a little closer at quarter time. General play to start the second quarter was pretty even with Crawf snapping a nice goal to add to his solid performance across the midfield. TWG scored his first with a snap out of the pack but the Blues had come to play and they were getting good results from youth. Chappy was on the end of one from Crawf resulting in a goal but the Blues strung three goals together before Loges scored one against the run of play to keep a slight edge at half time. The Bloods started the third OK with two goals from Balraj however the Blues banged on enough goals to have a two goal lead into three quarter time. Coach Nathan was urging The Bloods to stand up and fight the last quarter out. Chappy scored the first goal of the last but it was another twenty minutes before Balraj kicked his fifth, but it was all too late as the Blues held on by two points.
Good luck today to all our netballers and footballers. Just do yourselves proud.
