Under 14's - The boys played a great game today against a tough side and in the end it was a great score. All the kids played extremely well and stepped up to what was asked of them. Thanks to the two Congupna boys for the great game they put in. So keep it up young Bloods.
Under 17's - A cold freezing day but the boys went out there with the right attitude for the spirit of the game, they all gave 100%.
The new mercy rule came into play and when it did the competition became a lot more even and the boys enjoyed the game, Will McDonald was a key player up forward kicking a goal and also getting the coaches award. Jesse Baldwin strung another good game together along with Daniel Morgan. Well done boys.
Reserves - The trip down to the Road's home base proved a safe one for most with only a few changes before the start.
Watmore unavailable due to media commitments we welcomed back Mitch, Josh and our Under 17's players: Thomo, Jordy and Robbie.
Congupna showed no mercy in their quest for the four points and were far too strong for the Bloods who battled with the conditions. Strong performances were evergreen Bob, Matty & Jono in the middle and the backs were well serviced by Perko while Jared was best up forward. There was no sighting of Perkins Snr this week so maybe he is going out to Yarroweyah with Thomson Snr. We will wait and see.
Seniors - The Bloods had the advantage of the early breeze and was able to score early through Lee, Nathan and Whitey. Johnny Shiels, Chappy and Ben Lucas were prominent early. Rick and Kenny were winning their share of the ruck and Leeroy & Co were good at ground level. Jack Shannon scored a late goal after a good hard ball get winning the free kick.
Kicking to the western end proved an advantage during the second term with Congupna having the better of the quarter winning with a one goal lead at half time.
The rain fell during the long break making for a tough second half. The Bloods goaled early through Daiks but Congupna kicked two against the wind. The game now was a wrestle with Johnny Shiels edging the Bloods closer at three quarter time.
A volley of points by both sides before a goal from Morgs had a 2 point ball game. A goal to the Road but a counter punch from Ben Shiels and the scores were level. A goal to Johnny Shiels had the Bloods in front for the first time since quarter time. Piggy having a good game kicked his first but Congupna quickly got that back. A nice point from Nathan gave the Bloods a 7 point break and finally a win by a goal. Good luck to Johnny Shiels in his travels.
