UNDER 14's - Once again the Under 14's kicked the dew off the grass with wintry conditions at the start of play. The team should be proud of their performance in the second quarter which was full of determination, with hard running and tackling all over the ground. We showed strong courage and regularly got the ball out of the centre to the forward line but unfortunately with not too much result.
For the rest of the game we seem to be lacking in get up and go, our skill level was lazy and our lack of talk was noticeable. This week we've got a good chance so let's try and get that enthusiasm we showed in the second quarter for the whole game. Keep your heads up, train hard, go young Bloods.
UNDER 17's - After running through the banner with Deano the boys were very keen to start the game.
Our defence was under attack but good defence work done by our back line. Good kick ins by Robbie after Mulwala kicked 4 quick points in the opening minutes. Good tackling and ruck work by Jordan and good tackling by Jake (Buttsy) Brasher and Liam. Buttsy kicked a great goal after good play from Zac, Chris and Jordan.
Unfortunately our forward line saw little or no action in the second quarter. Matt rucked really well giving Jordan a rest. In the last half the boys tried hard, to their credit they played the game out.
Thanks to Jack Tyndall for playing with us on Saturday you had a great game and will be welcomed back whenever you can.
This week we should give it a red hot go against Rumba with a few of our schoolboys back.
RESERVES - We had the standard non appearance of a few to start the day. It made it hard for our boys to perform to a better result. However - to the credit of the guys - their endeavors were great. A warm welcome back to Peter Absolom and Ben Warnett. Into the side from Under 17 duties were Jordan Haynes and Dean Keleher. Jordan in particular had the better of his opponent all match.
Big Red - (Travis Haynes) - continues to impress with good performances each week. Maybe he needs to bang the door down harder!
Tim Brunskill, Bob Bourke, Jordan Haynes and Ben Warnett were very good performers. A tremendous effort from Peter Absolom. If everyone "bled" for the side like Pete we'll be better off.
A concerted effort today could see us bring home the bacon. Today's special - "Big Red".
SENIORS - With a 1/3 of our back line out injured the door opened for a couple of "guns" to show their wares. Also a late withdrawal of our CHF in Ben Phelan had the selectors promoting Ash Crawford after his game in the Reserves. All inclusions acquitted themselves very well.
Hard running games all day from Lee Warnett, Jarrod Kelly, Tim Garlick and Lucas White with great work on the back half from "The Smiling Assassin" Dave Farrell and ably supported by Luke Chapman.
Credit must be given to our opponents Mulwala - a young side on the way up. Our forward setup with Glenn Dundovic, Matt Robertson and Ben Shiels - until injured - plus the irrespressible "Hi-Five" Nathan O'Connell were able to keep "Mully" at a safe distance.
Must mention the very improved efforts of Nick Mellington at centre bounces.
Like all sides - when injuries and illness hit - it's time for others to step up to the plate.
Very good players over the four quarters would read - Lucas White, Dave Farrell, Jarrod Kelly, Luke Chapman, Tim Garlick and Glenn Dundovic.
QUERY - Is it true the big full forward has booked snowboarding for a week?
Thanks to Katie and Paul for organising the Murder Mystery Night. A good night was had by all. We had a couple of very good looking ladies amongst the cast. The senior footballers will never be looked at again the same.
