Well what a dismal day for football last week over at Blighty, we can thank the girls for keeping the club name riding high. As the football didn't have any wins the netball had plenty of wins, don't forget if you have time up your sleeve, slip over to the netball and watch the girls play. There is some great action happening on the courts.
Under 14's - Well done to Blighty for presenting the ground in wonderful condition considering all the rain we have had.
Well the junior Bloods got jumped early and couldn't claw back the difference by quarter time. They played good football for the rest of the game, given that players were in different positions that they would normally play and we still have a few out. Good luck this week boys.
Under 17's - The boys had a great game. A good consistent team game. Drew Eddy and Dylan Maxwell had great games down back and Jesse Barker was outstanding all game. Thanks to the Under 14 boys for playing, the boys all contributed in some way.
Reserves -A massive game for the twos turned into a very tight contest between Blighty and ourselves. Both teams would've woken on Sunday sore and knowing they were in a contest. The first quarter was a tough start as Blighty found an eight point lead and had most of the play for the quarter. Toc battled hard and had enough play but really couldn't convert.
For the next three quarters the Bloods had most of the play in our centre forward and battled hard to try and put scoreboard pressure on the opposition but lack of key targets up forward began to be an issue. We managed four points and Blighty managed a lone goal to see the half time deficit for the Bloods at 10 points.
The second half seen the Bloods again dominate field position but again managed only 2 goals 3 behinds to Blighty's 3 goals 1 behind. We need to win at least three more games for the year and hope we can keep enough healthy players available because we are good enough when they are.
Seniors -The Bloods travelled to Blighty in hope of a season defining game. 5th v 6th with finals hopes on the line. It was a fast opening term with Tocumwal getting off to a good start. Goals early to Baron, Flanagan and Logie had the boys up and about. In the second Blighty came back strong, goals for both teams showed how even the two teams were. It was a tight tussle in the third with both teams forcing the ball forward, the Bloods had a lot more scoring opportunities but failed to put Blighty out of the the contest.
The fourth quarter was a great contest. Blighty could not miss whilst the Bloods continued to spray opportunities. This ended up costing Tocumwal the game with Blighty kicking a goal with 1 minute left on the clock after a red hot umpiring decision.
