Under 17's - After finding our feet in the first quarter - six goals to zip - we regrouped and acquitted ourselves very well. The scoreboard certainly didn't reflect the game. We were beaten by a better combination on the day by about ten goals in the end, with no disrespect to our opponent - we are very positive and optimistic about our season. With five players pull out due to Easter holidays prior to the match we not only fielded a competitive side but we didn't have to call on extra players from our Under 14's or our opposition. The match was played in great spirit and this scribe never noticed "Tha Whistle Blowa!" A sign of good things to come. Our better players on the day were "Sausage Troy" - 3 big goals!! The "Skinny Kid" from Darley FC - "Grovesy", the solid contribution from "Jazza Morham" in defence and to top it off "Rowdy Morham" on ball. "Wot about Carrots!"
Overall we are really proud of our group of thirds players. Today Rumbalara - another test. Best of luck to both sides.
Under 14's - With two well contested practice matches under their belts the Toc U/14's side took to the field confident that they would be competitive. The overall size of Congupna was certainly intimidating to our young small team. The backline again this year did an awesome job in defending the goals with a definite "yoyo" effect in the 1st quarter. With a full and overloaded bench it was a great team effort and all with great club spirit to see the extra's helping with the boundary and running the water. Thanks for that boys. As the mercy rule kicked in in the 3rd quarter, the boy's heads started to drop, but determination kept the boys playing until the final siren. Well done to all.
