Good morning Bloods supporters one & all, as we not only welcome our neighbours the Finley Cats to our sunny shores to play for the time honoured Kelly Cup, but to everyone attending our inaugural Past Players Weekend that this year is celebrating the '91 Senior & Fourths Premiership teams. With good acceptances across the board it will be a great opportunity to catch up with many old friends and hopefully be an enjoyable day for all in attendance.
Under 14's - It was a chilly start to the game today, but the backline certainly did not have to get cold with plenty of spirit and determination. Word from the coach at 3 1/4 time was get yourselves warmed up, everyone get a kick and go and have some fun. MARK the ball!! Our boys defended the ball with gusto.
Under 17's - With "The Deni Crew" helping us out we played a very good match last week. Thank you again Deniliquin - A great gesture for junior football. An excellent improvement right across our team saw some very positive passages of play. Whilst the scoreboard would show a huge margin the match certainly reflected a different picture. The continued improvement of players such as Josh, Michael, Jeremy & Luke stands us in good stead for the future. The ever reliable Harro, Aaron, Jesse, Brad, Jesse and Co never give up. Keep training positively fellas you are all a credit to your families and yourselves. This week's "Happy Helpa" would feature the lovely Karen Morham. Always willing to give a hand when needed. Mother of "The Three Amigos" and "Young Brooke" - from up the highway. A tremendous asset to our club. Thank you Karen. Well - it's that time of year again - Finley at home! We'll be there trying our hardest. Enjoy your game everyone.
Reserves - The Toc Magoo's were missing several players from the previous weeks for various reasons but again to the credit of some very dedicated thirds boys in Messy, Kaleb, Reecey & Jarrod Morham, we were able to take the field but as will happen in these circumstances we lost a few early and played the bulk of the match a couple down which reflected on the scoreboard at the end of the day. Having set the scene, the effort of the fellows out there was truly commendable with everyone trying their best till the end. Jordy "Mouseman" Poynton continued his recent good form getting plenty of it around the middle against the odds and will have put himself in the senior selection spotlight. Big Disco Jord was again solid as he prepares to get back into senior footy while the Old Pres, Old Sniffa Dan, Lucky Lukey Fuller and Huntilicious Pete were the better players in a tough day at the office.
Seniors - The old saying that a week's a long time in footy sure rang true last Saturday. With our numbers unfortunately and somewhat disappointingly down after the excitement of the previous week it was always going to be hard work. After an encouraging first 10 minutes or so the senior boys were blown out of the water during the next 40 minutes with the game being effectively over at 1/2 time. To their credit, backs against the wall with a depleted bench the boys dug deep to gain some respect back in a much more competitive second half. This is a recording - Our best players were the Chocstar (gets better as it gets harder) who again teamed beautifully with Kenny the K Train Chellew (who was ironically a rover in the '91 Fourths team) at many stoppages to either clear it our way or hold the opposition up. Little Trav Haynes was solid down back and played one of his best games for the year being well supported by the flying Stevie Wonder Poynton and Azza Morham (fresh from being best in his thirds game). The Bearded Gurgler Pica continued his Samsoness good form fighting it out to the end as he always does and Rockin' Reece Hardwidge surely deserves a mention for his controversial 5 goals.
