Hi ho Bloods supporters as we welcome Moama Mowers to our sunny shores in what will be a huge day for both clubs.
Had some terrific feedback on the bus trips and should say a big thank you to Mark Baldwin and OC for their organisation and time. A humungous congratulation to Sharon Govan and her Under 12 netballers, who had their first win for the season - great work girls hopefully a few more to come before seasons end. Also to the C Res girls who without getting carried away are giving themselves every opportunity to play finals with their 7th win for the year.
Don't forget to get your glad rags ready for the TFNC's night of nights next Saturday at the Bloods 119th Annual Ball. Bring yourself, friends and family as great food, good wine, jovial company and groovy music will combine to delight all those in attendance. Tickets are available from all committee members with Pica the main man if you want to know anything or everything ball wise.
Under 14's - Toc had an amazing start to the game this week, with Cooper Reed scoring our 1st goal 1/2 way through the 1st term. The 2nd quarter saw Tongala run away and the score line was set up for the mercy rule to be engaged in the 3rd quarter. Two goals by Billy Govan was a great inspiration to the side. The word from the coach going into the last quarter was "play like the young boys in the team". The courage of the young small players to get in and have a go was awesome. The team did show some potential, we just need to keep working at it.
Under 17's - "Tree" calls it the "Fly Factory". At this time of year - we'll call it the "Freeze Factory". You're right - we went to Tongala, this scribe doesn't go that far for his holidays! Tongala went on the field with half a dozen on "day release" from Lancaster. Those fellas know how to play. Not to be outdone - we are proud of our group - their effort and determination is second to none. Very good players for the Bloods were Josh Allan, Kaleb Spicer, Brad McCallum and a special mention to Michael Pettit. To everyone involved - we hang in there - our time in the sun will come. Best wishes to Aaron Morham - he's running in Canada this week - in a cross country. Can't be enough room in Australia to run - eh Rowdy? Moama today - looking forward to it - especially with "Hicksy" making all the moves on the bench. Our weekly helper is the ever smiling Mark Gowty - runner, motivator, positive output always!! Great to have you around. As we say always - enjoy your game!
Reserves - The undermanned Toc Magoo's took to the field against a well drilled Tonny Two's and although convincingly beaten were gallant in their efforts particularly those in the back line. It was a day for the big men with star recruit (flown in for the game) Big Toby Chappell putting on a show for the Bloods faithful with some great grabs and reading the play beautifully to cut off many attacks. He was well supported by Big Kyle Diwell, Big Cam Dickins and Big Corey Herezo while Young ET, Young Bourkey and Young Pagas gave their all in what can only be described as a tough day at the office.
Seniors - The senior side who are already doing it tough injury wise could not take a trick at Tonny with Sniffa gone in the first 5 minutes, Diva finished before 1/4 time and Simo before 1/2 time. With Aaron, Pod, Kaleb and Fast Eddy Thomson having already played a game it was inevitable we would be out run in the end. Not grizzling or making excuses, simply stating the facts and if anything commending the boys who with their backs continually against the wall can hold their heads high in the way they have been giving it their all.
A big congratulation to Eddy "The Eagle" Thomson on his first senior game where in typical ET style he gave it his all and certainly did not look out of place on the big stage - well done Eddy.
The K Train Chellew was our best, playing his heart out and providing great presence and support to the young fellows throughout the game. Pica who after breaking his beak early, not only returned to the field but returned to form with his best game for the year creating regular opportunities for our forwards through some hard running as did the Choco Machine who has been in our best every game thus far.
Jack "Polished" Podesta defied his age, regularly finding space and using his silky skills to find his team mates while Denis "Dazzler" Hickey and Tiny Trav Haynes rounded out the better players for the day.
