The club would like to congratulate Leeroy and Whitey for their selection in the NSW team to play in Canberra this week at the 2010 Landmark Australian Country Football Carnival. We wish them all the best and they both will be badly missed this week as we take on the Rams.
If you are looking for something different to do today pop on over to the netball courts and watch some of the action. Our A Grade girls have only lost 2 games this year and are getting it together nicely. The club hope to see Youngy and KG get well VERY quickly. Let's all get behind this talented bunch of girls and their quest to go that one better this year. Bring it home girls!
Under 14's - A bit of a frosty start to the day saw the young Bloods start well against a tough Numurkah side. We started the game with a full side thanks to the Colston boys and young James. Once again our young boys all played well and helping the whole side. Congrats to Billy and Bryce for their great goals and the Numurkah boys for coming over in the third quarter once the Mercy Rule came into effect. Well done boys keep up the good work.
Under 17's - An even contest our boys fought hard all game playing gutsy footy, all the senior boys stood up and played strong games, the stand outs were Robbie Pyle, Keiran Andrew, Jake Brasher and Jordan Haynes. Down back they made it very tough for Numurkah to score, through the middle Steve Patten, Damian Todd and Jesse Baldwin gave plenty of run. Well done boys on your best game for the year.
Reserves - A fine sunny day greeted the 2nds with the usual player shuffle occurring before play. Toddy, Crock, Thomo Jnr and Nato doubling up again. We welcomed back Brad Gatty, Watmore, Matty Harper, Tyler (for his second game) and Wardy (in for his first for the club).
It wasn't to be the day for coach Roe and his troops with Numurkah having too many avenues to goal.
Better players were the two Brads, Matty Miller, Jono and thirds players - Nato, Toddy, Thomo and Crock.
The mystery of the missing scoreboard numbers will be played out this week with the police continuing their investigations in and around the Burma Road area.
Thomson Snr obviously led the impressionable Perkins Snr away today to stand on the sidelines while both sons had to double up for two games. Truly lamentable Thomson - time to consider your position!
Seniors - After a good effort against Congupna the Bloods were asked to do it all again but this time with some big outs - Johnny (overseas), Morgs & Tinks (both back to school) and Whitey (not coming up).
The good news was to see young Timmy Garlick back from injury for his first game since the Grand Final last year.
Numurkah started well with 5 first quarter goals. The Bloods scored one through Piggy but were having trouble moving the ball into the forward line effectively to give Nathan and Ben best opportunity to score. The match ups looked better in the second quarter with general play having the Bloods more competitive. The scoreboard didn't reflect the increased effort with the forwards struggling to post goals and Numurkah having several goal kickers in their 14 goal half time score.
The second half saw much of the same with the Blues having many winners all over the ground. The Bloods scored goals in the second half through Ben Shiels, Pica, Jordy and Ash.
Just a little reminder that our team photos - netball and football - will be taking place in Round 17 vs Finley. So we need to be ready a little bit earlier so Annette can organise everyone. Photos will be $10 each and to be paid up front to the team manager.
This week we have the big trip to the Rams pen at Deniliquin. All the best for all teams today. Tonight after the game we will be going back to the Terminus Hotel to hear all the results and awards for the day.
