Under 14's - The boys played a good game today in tough and wet conditions. The first quarter was a great effort keeping Finley down to only 4 goals and 10 points. Our seniors boys in Corey, Billy and Joshua all played the roles that they needed to and our younger boys all shaped up in the tough conditions. Keep going young bloods and we will get one on the board soon. Congratulations to Brandon Meloury who plays his 50th U/14's game today for the club.
Under 17's - With wet conditions and a few senior players missing, the boys played extremely well at every contest. The backs brought the ball to ground and the mid fielders came in and cleaned up. Robbie Pyle at CHB was best a field, while Hamish Lang and Will McDonald battled hard all day in defense. All the U/14's that came up all held their own and played extremely well.
Reserves - We started with the minimum 18 after there were a couple of late withdrawals from the ones. A solid game with Perko & Reiwolt going down with injuries. Good luck with the recovery to both boys. Final score saw Finley have a win however our work rate was very good with Perko (before injured), Matty Miller, Matty Harper, Bob Bourke and welcome to Ben Lucas who played well. We should also welcome our other newcomers to the Magoos - Brad, Jared and Josh.
Seniors - Against Finley and under lights brought out a great work rate to start with Harey running well off half back and early goals to Pica and Ash. Finley scored three to take the lead into quarter time with seven shots each. Toc started the 2nd quarter well with a goal to Johnny Shiels but Finley replied through Joel Richardson. Ben Shiels replied for Toc however Finley scored one from a 50m penalty keeping their nose in front. Finley scored the next 3 goals with Toc only managing 3 points before kicking 2 quick goals to keep the margin to 9 points at half time.
A tight tussle during the third term with goals hard to come by with Ben Shiels kicking two in a row to put Toc in front for the first time in the game.
Finley started the last term the better, kicking the first goal quickly followed by one from Johnny Shiels. Finley goaled again to see the lead change three times in three minutes. Finley edged further in front with another goal. The backs were under a lot of pressure and Finley again broke through to give them a match winning lead.
