The A Grade girls played off against our arch rivals in Finley in the preliminary final last week. Our girls were confident providing we all played at our best.
The first quarter was an evenly matched contest with the pressure and intensity at high levels by both sides, Youngy was proving a handful for Finley's defence with her height and mobility, which allowed Katrina a bit more freedom, Alex and Abby were providing good feeds to our attack as we went in with a 1 goal advantage at the first break.
The second quarter saw the same intensity with our defence starting to get on top of Finley's attack; Lynsey and Leah were working overtime and started creating turnovers with Sophie and Alex giving great assistance as we went forward. Our lead had stretched out to a 5 goal lead.
The third quarter is said to be the premiership quarter and we saw a real tug-o-war game, with out girls extending the lead only to have Finley reel us back in. Both sides were desperate and our girls were chasing every loose ball and contesting every pass, we went into the last break with a 6 goal advantage.
Final quarter saw our girls once again lift even more and take the game away from Finley as we finished with a strong 11 goal win. All our girls played extremely well and showed the supporters that they are back to their best form.
The girls have played some brilliant netball throughout the year and after injuries in the later part of the season, we are back to our best.
Our hearts go out to Kristie Gannon who goes in for a full knee reconstruction this month and will miss this year's Grand Final, we will miss her drive and leadership, also all the best to Lauren Pilakis who is having another baby, due early next year. Her support has been immeasurable. Thank you to all our supporters during the year and we hope you support us loud and clear today.
