Under 14's - In the conditions and against good opposition, the Junior Bloods four quarter effort was outstanding. Desperate and attacking in defence, combined with smart use of the ball, the boys stuck to their game plan and the result took care of itself. Cody, Oliver, Deck, Harvey and Tommy were great examples of 26 boys having an almighty crack. Well done boys, keep up these great efforts.
Under 17's - No Report
Reserves - The Magoos headed down the highway to take on the undefeated top of the table Deni on a wet and cold Saturday. With a couple of late withdrawals a couple of U/17's put their hands up to play. The game turned into a contested ball feast with both teams throwing their bodies into every contest. It was always going to be a low scoring game if we were going to be competitive. Deni held sway at the first break by 2 goals with some good play by the Bloods going unrewarded. The second term was different, with Kenny and Davo battling hard we managed to hit the front during the quarter and were only a point down at the main break. In the end Deni proved to be too good but this was the best complete all round team effort so far this season. Reece was good with Matt and Peter being our two best but every player deserves credit.
Seniors - Last week saw the Bloods travel to Deni to play in another important game for their season. The sun came out on the trip over but it wasn't nearly enough to dry the oval. A wet, muddy, tough game was on the cards for both teams. The first quarter saw both teams fighting hard to try and earn themselves that early lead, but it was a dead heat. The quarter time score 2.2 apiece.
The second quarter tipped in Tocumwal's favour, Dizza Flanagan was grabbing the ball like it was a dry day and Steve Patten was finding plenty of it through the middle. Toc earned themselves a slight lead at half time. The Bloods had the wind in the third quarter and looked to make the most of it. They dominated play around the ground and the backline stood strong to withhold the surge Deni provided. Toc were able to kick themselves into a 4 goal lead at the final break. The last quarter played out in a way that has been typical for the Bloods so far this season. A couple of attempts at goal that would have put the Rovers in doubt for a comeback were missed early. The Rovers had the wind and came home with a wet sail, kicking 4 goals and stealing the win by 2 points. The Bloods have had the bye and are looking to regroup and reload for the second half of their season.
