Under 14's - The Young Bloods had a tough day last Saturday against an undefeated tall Moama side. The boys played well. All of our younger, small players played a great game in what must have been a daunting experience; they well and truly held their own. Just goes to show boys it doesn't matter how big you are it's the size of your heart that matters - you all have big hearts. Keep it going, you all should be very proud of the way you conduct yourselves week in and week out.
Under 17's - A very good game by everyone. It was good to have Corey and Sam back in the side. We scored our highest score for the season so far and that should be incentive enough to go better. Once again our fitness let us down and it really showed towards the end of the match. Thanks to Moama for their players who all played in the spirit of the game. Chins up fellas it can only get easier with a bit more training and fitness under your belts.
Reserves - Well Moama at Moama is always a tough ask but the Ressies fronted up again with support from Corey, Messy, Thommo, Nato and Hammer, thanks again boys. The Three Amigos (Croc, Jack & Jake) wandered in a little late but never the less still wandered in. The Bloods along with the battle against top side Moama also had to contend with kicking against a nine goal breeze. Skinny, Doc and Corey battled down back and big Ash was good in the ruck. Low and behold the Ressies again battled against a nine goal breeze in the second (ha,ha). Bobby, Thommo, Skinny, Troy Boyer and Redman the best for the quarter. Facing another wind change in the third quarter Bob called for his charges to tighten up, which they did restricting the Mowers to only five goals. Big Ash continuing to work hard. The last quarter started with the boys two players down and battling again into a strong breeze. Pagas got better as the day went on, Corey, Doc and Troy Boyer all had good games.
Seniors - A big welcome back to Mickey Hare. The Hare Bear has been on the sidelines for 12 months and the club wish Harey all the best for the rest of the season.
A tough ask early running into a strong wind with Choco backing up his good quarter with a goal, with Johnny, Scotty, K-Train & TWG along the backline all working hard. The second quarter The Bloods had plenty of the play with Harey moved to the forward line looking for his second wind. Choco and Johnny dominated while Scotty, TWG & Cluckas worked their magic down back. Goals from OC & Gibbsy kept the scoreboard moving but the Mowers still had enough of the ball to outscore the Bloods.
The best use of the ball came early in the third with play from half back through the middle with a nice finish from Monty. The Bloods were holding their own in general play. Scotty, Harey & TWG combining off half back and Choco continued to shine with a lovely running goal where he picked the ball up on the wing, several bounces and the kick from 50 to finish with the "Ray Jones" goal of the day. Monty snagged a late one and the Bloods found themselves outscoring the Mowers once Choco slotted in his third with the "Rev Smith" play of the day.
The Bloods required goals early but Moama showed their class to finish too strong for the Bloods who today pieced together some very good football.
