We have a big weekend this weekend at the Tocumwal Football Netball Club. Starting with our games today against Cobram and then followed tomorrow morning with a training run, luncheon and presentation by Tommy Hafey and Shelley O'Donnell. Training will commence at 10am followed by a luncheon and presentation. This is open to all members of the public. Luncheon and presentation is $15 per adult and $7.50 per child 17 and under. Don't miss out on what will be a great day!
Under 14's - The Young Bloods had a well earnt rest because Tongala don't field a team. Back on board this week with a bit of grit and determination boys. Thanks to Luke Hayes-Beetson, Hugh Haynes, Troy Poynton, Brandon Meloury and Jordan Hicks who made the trip to Tongala to help out the U/17's.
Under 17's - A big drive and a big ask for the boys against Tongala when we only had twelve on the starting list. Thanks to Tongala for lending us five players so we could have a game of football. The game was played in great spirits. Keep your heads up boys it is a credit to you all for fronting up week in and week out. Thanks to Luke Hayes-Beetson for helping out with the boundary for the reserves. A few boys need to take a leaf out of your book when asked to help out. It was a shame boys to see your coach having to run boundary for the reserves.
Reserves - Fine but windy conditions greeted the Bloods at Tonny, and again the two's were propped up with a few of the U/17's. Thanks again to Ed, Messy, Hammer and Aiden Dempster. Mitch started well again controlling the centre bounce and feeding off to evergreen Bob. Croc, Jake and Sniffa had a busy first quarter while the Blues enjoyed the aid of the breeze. The second quarter started badly with Cannons popping a shoulder and the game again being played in our back half. Big Shanno moved into the ruck and got his hands on the ball, which was a positive. Sniffa, Aiden, Bobby and Shannon better players for the quarter. The second half was a battle and survival of the fittest with Cannons down, Mitch wounded and the other boys all waiting for their second wind to kick in.
Seniors - Some late withdrawals before the start with Singhy, Monty and Crawf all failing the doctors nod, but the changes didn't unsettle The Bloods with goals to Coach Nathan, Loges, Johnny and Choco all scoring with a very even performance across the team. Loges, TWG and Morgs were good through the middle with Piggy, Timmy B, Dave and Scottie holding the defence together.
The Blues started the better in the second quarter kicking the first 4 goals to get their nose in front and again momentum. The Bloods needed to dig hard in the latter part of the quarter to stop Tonny's run and go in at half time 11 points in arrears. Loges was good again with Scotty, Clucky and Timmy B all working hard in the back half.
Third quarter started the same way The Bloods finished the second with them taking 15 minutes to score a goal through Loges who was our best with good support from Timmy B and Morgs but the Bloods needed a lift from the remainder if the last quarter was to be won and the scoreline evened up. No fairytale finish for the Bloods as Tonny ran out comfortable winners.
Good luck to all teams today, we hope it is a better result than last week.
