Welcome to the 2015 season. Firstly, I would like to thank all our sponsors, supporters and committee for their great work in the off season. We have managed to get a lot of work done on the clubrooms and the oval - which looks a treat.
A big welcome back to Matt and Trish Wooden who have taken on huge roles for the club this year. Trish is running the netball side of things, whilst Matt is coaching the Under 17's and reserves, and may even pull the boots back on!!!
We are very excited for the 2015 netball season at Tocumwal. We have league A Grade B & F winner Leah Pate leading the A Grade side this year as player/coach and we welcome talented past players Jacq-Lyn Davis and Abby Wilson to the side along with newcomer Kate Bird.
Leah is supported this year by fellow senior coaches Trish Wooden (B), Cheryl Mears (C) and Melissa Herezo (C Res). Numbers are strong and we are looking forward to all working together this year to sustain a great club atmosphere, have some fun and hopefully some successes along the way.
For coaches Millie Ferguson (U/15's), Cheryl Mears (U/13's) and Kristy (Red) Gillespie (Minis) it's looking to be a really great season for our juniors, with lots of local talent whho can't wait to take the court.
All teams are full of enthusiasm and keen to get the 2015 season started. Be sure to come over and show your support throughout the season and cheer the girls on.
On the football ground Danny Kirchen who was named Picola League "Coach of the Year" last year has got the senior boys fit and ready to go, hopefully a couple of steps further than last year. As I said before Matt Wooden is coaching the Reserves and wants to see them play finals for the first time since, well nobody can tell me when, we think maybe in the 70's!!! It is great to see four or five local guys back playing, who played their junior football with Toc as well.
Under 17's coach Matt Wooden is trying to get the boys to a second finals series in two years. Matt has a wealth of experience and with the help of a couple of senior footballers, are looking forward to getting these boys ready for senior football.
The evergreen Bob Bourke is coaching the Under 14's once again. Bob's passion for football filters through these boys at training and they absolutely love it. After losing six games last year by under 1 goal and missing finals by the narrowest of margins, things look good for a finals berth for them this year.
If there is anyone who would like to get involved or help out in anyway, don't be afraid to come and see me. There are many jobs to be filled on match day. If everyone chips in and does a little, it makes life a lot easier for everyone.
This week we travel to Deniliquin to play the Deni Rovers. Good luck to all sides. After the game tonight we are all welcome back to the Terminus Hotel for after game drinks and awards.
GO GET EM BLOODS
