BRRRR Winter is here...... We had our first taste of winter sports last week, time to dig those winter woollies out. What another big week, two wins in the footy and three wins in the netball. We have A Grade still undefeated. If you want to see a good game of netball get over to the A Grade game this week and watch the girls perform. We have a road trip ahead of us today to get to Mathoura, I wonder how many people are going to get lost. All the best to everyone today. We will be meeting back at Kelly's Pub tonight for the awards. See you all there.
U14's - Last week's final quarter was about as exciting as it gets with the young Bloods gallant in their effort but again falling agonisingly short of that elusive 4 points. As has been the case over the last few weeks is we are getting as much, if not more of the ball as the opposition but struggling to convert it on the scoreboard. In a very even team effort a couple of standouts were Tyrone Smithers whose ability to get the ball under pressure was exceptional, Jesse Barker played his best game of the year after taking a hard knock from some friendly fire and Daniel McIntosh's hard running in the second half got us back into the game and showed what he's capable of. Aden Donnell played a blinder while first years Harvey White and Kalle Stewart both made the most of their opportunities including a timely terrific goal from Kalle. The confidence is growing, stick to the plan and as they say, the rest will take care of itself.
U17's - A great win. Picola had quite a number of U14 boys playing two games which is a credit to the club. We started off very slow but in the 2nd & 3rd quarters played some good footy. Thanks to Josh Chellew for playing and played a very good game. Well done boys is was a great effort.
Reserves - Going down by three goals wasn't too bad. Hopefully a win is just around the corner. We only need to get all the good passages of play and put them together to get us over the line. Our lineups have been very good; surely we can crack a win soon.
Seniors - What a nail biting finish. We shouldn't have to put our spectators through this. We had plenty of opportunities to put them away and didn't take them. Today we need to all be switched on and come out raring to go.
In netball, another milestone. Congratulations to Breanna Anthony for playing her 50th B Grade game against Picola.
Now just a little bit of housekeeping. For those players, netball and football - you will NOT be eligible for incentives or awards until your membership is paid for. Over the next couple of weeks we will be rectifying this problem. Memberships need to be paid to either Deb in the office or see your team managers. We would be happy to take part payments until it is paid off.
# A new shipment of hoodies have arrived. They are available upstairs - $50.00 for adults and $40.00 for children.
QUOTE OF THE DAY - "Don't give up just because of what someone said. Use that as motivation to push harder."
