Well what a day it turned out last week at Barooga - wins to our senior netballers and footballers and not forgetting our Young Bloods who finally got a win on the board, well done to all involved.
A big thank you to everyone that got on board with the Young Bloods and cheered them to victory. It was very stirring to see the senior boys in the rooms with the Young Bloods after the game belting out the song - well done to those senior boys that took the time to spend with these young boys, it meant the world to them.
Under 14's - Well Young Bloods your coach has been saying for the last few weeks that we will get our first win on the board, and here it is. We played a great game to hold off Barooga to score their winning goal. What the coach sees as the first win of many to come, you all played a great game with many of the senior boys playing a great but also the young guys in the side getting plenty of the ball. Great work to Toby and Bailee for being right there when we needed them. Overall you all put in a great effort but now we need to get to training and switch on so we can put more wins on the board.
- Tocumwal's last Under 14's victory was against Nathalia in Round 16 - July 12, 2008. (Tocumwal 47 to Nathalia 29).
Under 17's - We started well with only having to ask 3 fourths boys to play. A big thank you to both Cobram and Barooga for lending us some players, it is very much appreciated. The boy's battled really hard with the score not showing the context of the game. It just goes to show it doesn't matter what colour the jumper is you wear, its how you play the game and respect it. Well done boys keep working hard.
Reserves - Toc v Barooga was a tough challenge for the coach K-Train. The KY contingent were again solid with new recruit Jake, comeback player Tucky and double up players Messy, Thommo, Morto, Jesse and Corey. Windy conditions made life difficult and without the usual drive of Timmy and Skinny the work load was shouldered by Doc, Cannons, Jack, Corey and Jordy. Barooga handled the conditions better with Corey, Doc, Jake & Jordan among Toc's best.
Seniors - Late changes with Loges & Clucky not coming up being replaced with inform Timmy B and Jack Bunnett. Toc heading into the breeze started well with Singhy pushing back and helping out Dave, Scotty & Co. Barooga having the better of the quarter with four goals to Toc's nil. A couple of quick centre clearances resulted in goals to Rhys and Coach Nathan and a second to Rhys had The Bloods gaining some confidence. TWG chipped in for his first giving The Bloods the lead. Barooga bounced back late in the quarter with two goals and The Bloods missing a few chances to level up at half time. The Bloods needed to take their chances in the third and hold Barooga if they were to stay in touch. Piggy moved forward and set two goals up early with DAve off to Johnny and Piggy to Rhys keeping Toc in touch. Rhys kicked his fourth after a strong mark but Barooga kept their own scoreboard moving before Dave kicked a goal after the siren to have an eleven point deficit at three quarter time. The spirit in the huddle was full of expectation and both sides could only manage minor scores until TWG scored his second to make it a one point game at the fifteen minute mark. Rhys jagged his fifth and sixth after a handoff from Dave which was enough to hold on for a two goal win. A great soul searching win boys.
