U/14's: Our young side were up against a tough team last week who had a lot of speed and skill, but the courage of our young brigade saw them improve from their efforts of the last two weeks with the younger players getting right in the action with Josh Allan, Corey Howell and Billy Andrew leading the way. As our young side spends more time together I am sure we will see a great team forming.
U/17's: We started the day with our backs against the wall with some senior boys out due to injury, but the boys that were left gave 100% all game. Jordan Haynes in the ruck battled hard all day and won most of the taps; Steve Patten ran hard all day in the mid field and was best on ground. Daniel Morgan had a hard game all day at full back but never gave in putting plenty of pressure on the Deni forwards. A big thank you to all the 4ths that came up once again and helped, they played extremely well.
RESERVES: A solid effort from the Magoos. What the scoreboard doesn't show is the weekly improvement of Cannons, Harps, Matty Miller & Co. After some choice advice from the coach, Jono Andrew had a cracker; Mitch was very good hardly missing a tap and Brad Perkins continues to put his hand up for senior selection with another belter.
Need to mention fantastic sportsmanship displayed by Deni in lending some players and a win-win situation with all players getting a full game - thank you!
SENIORS: Another week goes by and more injuries. We hope all our injured players get better soon. We all need to stick together and get behind the coaches and a win won't be too far away. A few of our top age thirds boys are getting the opportunity to play seniors which is good for the club in coming years. Congratulations to Keiran Andrew who played his first senior game for the club after coming through the junior ranks.
Our social calendar is up and running now with our next functions being The Past Players Day on 1st May - Round 5 vs Mulwala - Greg Watmore is the person to speak to regarding this event and that evening Pica has organised a Rubiks Cube night. You must attend in all the colours of the cube (red, white, blue, orange, green and yellow) and leave in ONLY one colour of the cube. A very interesting night, one filled with plenty of laughter I imagine. Let's get behind these two committee members and make their efforts in organising these events rewarding.
On a sad note we say goodbye to Nathan O'Connell who last Saturday decided it was time to hang the boots up. We thank you for your services on and around the ground at the footy club. Nathan is part of our committee so we will still see him around the club.
There will be a hotdog night for the U/14's next Thursday night after training this is sponsored by Toc News & Lotto. If anyone would like to sponsor a hotdog or pie night for the juniors please contact Carl Cummins.
We are off to Finley this week in what will be a late start with a night match being played. Good luck to all our netballers and footballers. As it will be a late finish all awards will be done in the change rooms after the game so keep a look out on the website for all our award winners for the week.
