Well done to our A grade netballers who won a hard physical game against Cobram last weekend by four goals. Let's get behind them this Sunday against Congupna at Moama for their continued hunt for the flag. Good luck to our senior boys today in their quest for the flag.
If you can lend a hand on Grand Final day it would be much appreciated. We will be doing all catering and bar positions this year. If anyone has a NSW RSA could you please get your name to Heather Ball so we can put you on a roster.
Under 14's - The "Young Bloods" played their last game of the season with loads of spirit, tackling and pressuring the opposition all over the ground. Every player contributed on the day, as they did the week before, and it really showed in the second quarter with the scoring fairly even with Cobram kicking 2 goals 1 to Toc 2 goals. As we have said before guys it proves you can play great footy. The highlight of the day would have to be the goal by Andrew Norgate; he has sat in that forward line all year not seeing the ball all that often, just goes to show persistence pays off, well done Andy great goal.
Well done to all the "Young Bloods" you should be proud of yourselves for continuing all season, your play picked up in the latter stages of the year which was definitely seen in the last few games.
The umpires allowed play to run with few stoppages, the game had good pace all day, and once again the cracking charisma of umpire Koopman attracted plenty of attention, and as we have seen in the past, the man in white is quick to pounce on those foolish enough to voice their thoughts. Thanks for the year Tex, it was much appreciated.
Under 17's - It might have been the final game for the season but it was fantastic to see them run onto the field as keen as mustard to try and get a win.
The boys struggled against a stronger Cobram team but to the boys credit they never gave up.
On a sad note we have to say goodbye to our senior boys, thanks for the continued effort you have shown over the past 3 years.
We would like to thank all the Under 14 boys who helped us field a team each week and to all the volunteers during the season. Thanks also to Coach Pica and Team Manager Tim for a great job all season.
Reserves - You just get a feeling prior to these matches, that it could be a good day at the office. When only one player doesn't turn up without notice - it's got to be positive. Everyone else was on tap!
With a couple of senior players back at lunch time - the stocks seemed to rise across the group. This was evident from the outset - with every player working for each other. We were playing a side in the finals - weren't we?
A tremendous game for four quarters from "Pica" - just what he needed - saw our "Ressies" nearly cause the upset.
Next year we might go to training, a fitness base would certainly have given Toc a better opportunity to win. Final score Cobram 8.9 to Toc 7.10.
Good players for the day were: Jeremy Cardillo, Matt McWhinney, David Trotman, Ben Wilson and Nicholas Ball.
We hope to see you all at pre-season - with footy gear in hand!!!!
Seniors - With the final home and away match out of the way - our boys recorded a hard earned win - scoring 17.24 to Cobram 7.11. Not hard to work out which side had a lot of the footy.
Our neighbours seemed to turn to some "interesting" ways of trying to upset our team structure. This was to no avail - as the result above shows.
Great effort to reward on of the "Young Bloods" with their first senior game. Well done Chris Patten.
With the "Pie Eater" being promoted to help "Big Red" - they both worked well in the following division.
Our ball winners gave the forward structure plenty of opportunities. However - we must still straighten up when having an opportunity in front of goal.
As the game progressed we kept losing "soldiers" to injury. By half time we had no bench - this in itself was a tremendous effort to keep the solid Cobram outfit at bay.
The second half saw a much depleted "Bloods" side work for each other. To keep the intensity up and the spirit to work together was testament of a good side.
We finished with only sixteen players on the field at siren time. Some thought it was back in the old V.F.A. days. Great players for the full four quarters would see Jarrod Kelly, Sean Logie, Glenn Dundovic and Ben Phelan. It was also very positive to see the efforts of our younger brigade in this side.
With the second semi we know what to expect - we also know what we have to give. The reward is a mighty step toward the club goal.
