Another cold wintery day and as I predicted last week from the sounds of things there were a few that got lost heading to Mathoura. There were also some interesting stories about trips to and from there. One trip in particular sounds like it was a hair raising experience - oh the fun and games you can have in a little bus.
On to this week - over the bridge and into Victoria we go to play the mighty Hoppers. Good luck with all teams, after the game we will hang a leftie after the bridge at the roundabout and head to the Terminus Hotel for the awards. Get back there and support the club and sponsors that support you.
Over at the footy department it seems that we are lacking volunteers on match day to do some simple little things. Things that need to be done to get a game started. If you could kindly lend a hand with boundary umpiring, goal umpiring, running water, timekeeping or being an interchange steward, or even writing a little match report this would be appreciated and would help all team managers with their jobs. Please come forward and speak either to Ash, Carl, Deb or team managers.
Don't forget that memberships need to be paid up this week, it is imperative that this is done as we had a couple of incidents last weekend on the footy field that didn't end up too well. No Membership - No Insurance. Football is a funny game, you never know what is going to happen from week to week.
Under 14's - The junior Bloods finally cracked the ice! After a cautious first quarter the boys hit their straps to play both exciting and, more importantly, disciplined footy enabling them to control the remainder of the game resulting in a comfortable win. In another very even effort Jess B, Will H and Daniel Mc all played great running games, Daniel R, Tom H and Matty G all played to instruction beautifully while James B was a strong target up forward finishing the good work up the ground with six sausage rolls. Well done boys. Good to hear Tommy B is up and running about again after his little mishap last week.
Under 17's - The boys had a tough one. In cold wintery conditions the game didn't go our way. Keep your heads up boys, another win is just around the corner. All the best to Fitzy, we hope you are up and about soon. A big thank you to Rick for coaching the boys in Shane's absence and also to Ian Bowdern for taking on the team manager role for Malcolm, great work by both of these guys.
Reserves - Keep your heads up fellas, a win isn't too far away I'm sure. Let's get ourselves ready to take on the Hoppers.
Seniors - A great win by the boys in what was a cold wintery afternoon. Keep at it boys, it is great to see a few wins notched up this early in the season. All the best for today.
Best of luck to Jesse Barker who will represent the Tocumwal Football Netball Club in the U14's league team at Moama tomorrow. All the best Jesse.
QUOTE OF THE DAY - "Success is where preparation and opportunity meet."
