The St.Arnaud reserves sky rocketed their way past Charlton
on Saturday with a comfortable win to sit them third on the ladder. They won by
120 points with the help from full forward Jarryd Kell booting 9 goals.
The saints had the ball on a string from the first bounce as
Captain Sam Coloe started the scoring. He was then followed by Kell, while Zach
Notting kicking two more shortly after. Adam Devereux and Luke Reyne kicked
another two for a good quarter by the saints.
Charlton bounced back early in the second with a quick goal.
But from then on it was all the saints with dominance from across the ground
with players such as Grant Doyle running of half back and Carl Baldock
dominating the ruck and Kell down forward. Kell converted for the first for the
quarter and Notting, Reyne and another to Kell saw a margin that never looked
narrowing. Notting scored his fourth before Luke Garton scored, showing his
soccer skills to finish the quarter.
The saints never stopped as Coach Brock Ezard scoring the
first for the second half. Kell quickly followed with his fourth, as Joe
Battersby followed suit for his first. Ezard started to show dominance along
half forward to only strengthen the saints’ attack, as he and Kell kicked two
more between them.
The last quarter was all Kell on the scorecard and he piled
on a quick 3 goals to take it to 8. It may be said that Kell possessed the
hands on God as everything stuck, no matter how much pressure was on. The
saints dropped off for a couple of minutes only to see Charlton score two more
goals before Kell finished off with his ninth.
