The St.Arnaud reserves recorded their first win for the
season with an 86 point thumping of Wedderburn.
The saints started strongly in the first quarter despite a
strong wind against them. They were able to run the ball very fluently down the
ground to kick a couple of goals to Luke Reyne and Levi Berry. Wedderburn had
no answer for the saints and, lead by strong running from Sam and James Coloe
through the middle and Dom Rhoden from the back line, were able to kick another
two goals from Garry Williams and Reyne to win the quarter.
With the wind, the saints clearly dominated the second term
with great hands from Jacob Patching and Williams and the in and under skills
of Grant Doyle. The skills from the boys were clear as they kicked four goals
before Wedderburn got their first. These came from Nathan Ezard, Berry, and two
more from Reyne. To end the quarter strongly, Reyne and Adam Devereux kicked
truely for two more.
The third quarter was again won by the saints as they were
prepared for anything thrown at them. Their running quickly got the ball down
to Berry, Devereux Reyne and Ezard to kick the saints further ahead before
dominating the last to finish the game strong victors.
