St Arnaud hosted Learmonth on Saturday, in Practice Matches featuring Seniors, Reserves, and Under 16’s Football.
The Under 16’s kicked off the day, with a good showing against the bigger, older, and more physically stronger Learmonth side. Coach Bruce Hando was pretty happy with the boys effort.
Brock’s Reserves came out next, and provided a strong showing, in the end, getting over the line by a few goals. They will be much better for the run, and I’m sure will be keen on getting the ball rolling, when the season comes
In the main game, St Arnaud were able to return the favour to Learmonth, who only 12 months ago, run rampant over St Arnaud’s Senior side. St Arnaud started off strongly, with both the locals, and the new recruits getting some good contested game time, and gaining a reasonable lead by half time.
Learmonth came out strong in the second half, taking it right up to the Saints, but St Arnaud were able to hold onto their lead, and see the game out. Coach Alistair Egan said after the game, that he was really pleased with the Teams effort, especially in the first half. There is still some way to go, but the signs are good so far.
