Marc Quarrell (COACH)

MARC QUARRELL - (Coach) Premiership Coach of 2007 who leads by example and is very passionate about the club. Marc has taken on the playing coach role with great success. A very quick and determined rover/forward who is a ferocious tackler and good mark for his size. Loves to kick a goal and will be hoping for lots of them today. Has also played with Yarrawonga in the O&MFL and North Heidelberg. Was joint Captain of successful MFL interleague side this season. 158 senior club games. Triple Premiership player.

Nathan Gemmill ~ Captain

NATHAN GEMMILL – (Captain) An extremely quick and hard working rover who has wonderful ball gathering skills and endurance. Nath’s season was interrupted late in the year with injury and is just returning to top form. Five time club Best & Fairest, 2005 O’Dwyer Medalist, and 2006 VCFL medalist, shows he is one of the best rovers going around in country footy. Has had stints with Geelong, Perth and has played in a premiership with Rochester in the GVFL. Was also part of the successful MFL interleague team this season. A Premiership as Captain would be well deserved for Nathan. 211 senior club games. Triple Premiership player.

Ashley Quinn ~ Vice Captain

ASHLEY QUINN - (Vice Captain) Ashley is a very elusive, hard running wingman, who is a thumping left foot kick. Very skilful young player who kicks important goals, he has matured under the role of Vice Captain, and is a very important member of the team who will be looking for a big Grand Final performance. Has represented the MFL at Inter-League. 100 senior club games. Dual Premiership player.

Jason Limbrick ~ Vice Captain

JASON LIMBRICK - (Vice Captain) Key position player who is a very good mark, excellent reader of the play and a great kick. Jason is very cool under pressure and has been a tower of strength and consistency all over the ground this season. Jason has played in the ruck, in defence and up forward, where he has kicked 50 goals this season. A former MFL U17 medalist and also a GVFL U18 medalist with Shepparton. 65 senior club games. Dual premiership player.

Brendon Parker

BRENDON PARKER - A tough and strong marking key forward, who despite injury has still managed to boot 80 goals this year. Previously he has kicked 4 consecutive tons after returning to the club in 2004. Very experienced player who has had stints with Carlton, North Adelaide, Tongala & Newtown-Chilwell. Is also a former dual VCFL representative, and a GVFL medalist, who will be looking forward to a big Grand Final and take home the ultimate prize. 139 senior club games. Triple Premiership player.

Danny Bourke

DANNY BOURKE – A Strong marking and very reliable utility who has been an important member of the team for several seasons. He continues to amaze with his marking ability, evasive skills and long direct kicking. Has also played with Yarrawonga in the O&MFL and represented WA country. A very laid back player, Danny is one of the clubs most consistent and versatile performers. 189 senior club games. Triple Premiership player.

Brett Vallender

BRETT VALLENDER - Strong marking key forward who is very mobile for his size. Brett returned to the club last season after playing in the 2006 GVFL Grand Final with Benalla. He has been a consistent goal kicker all season with 30 goals from CHF and will be looking forward to a big finals performance. Also has the ability to play down back or in the ruck. Was also part of the successful MFL interleague team this season. 111 senior club games. Dual Premiership player. more -->

Ashley Gemmill

ASHLEY GEMIILL - One of the premier players in the league who has had an injury interrupted season and is just running into form. An extremely quick player who is a ferocious tackler and a sensational mark. Ashley is a four-time club B & F winner and 2004 MFL O’Dwyer Medalist who has represented the MFL and GVFL at Inter-League on numerous occasions. Is also a former coach and assistant coach of the club. 245 senior club games. Triple Premiership player and was Captain in 2006 & 2007.

Nathan Trimby

NATHAN TRIMBY - A highly skilled and very clever player who has represented the MFL at Inter-League. His ball gathering and kicking skills play an extremely important role in the team. Nathan can play an attacking or defensive role and has the ability to play in the midfield, back line or up forward with great effect. 197 senior club games. Triple Premiership player.

Anthony Ross

ANTHONY ROSS - A very experienced and highly skilled player who has returned to his home club after many seasons away. He has played in 10 Grand Finals during his career including Premierships with Lavington in the OMFL. Has also coached Howlong and Brocklesby in the Hume League where he has also won a League’s Azzi Medal. His experience and goal kicking ability has been a great asset to the club and could prove a real difference today. 24 senior club games.

Marc Gemmill

MARC GEMMILL - A tough, hard running player who is very versatile and can play anywhere on the ground. Will not take a backward step and his hardness at the ball and running ability are very important to the teams’ success. Very experienced player, with stints at Ainslie, Shepp Swans and Townville during his career. 117 senior club games. Triple Premiership player.

Ross Garner

ROSS GARNER - A hard running and high marking key position player, who is very mobile. Has taken on a defensive role this season after several years as a key forward. “Barney” has had an outstanding season, making life difficult for all opposition key forwards, and his work rate on the field sets the example for his team mates. 196 senior club games. Triple Premiership player.

Ryan Butler

RYAN BUTLER - Former Murray Bushranger, who has been on the Geelong VFL rookie list for the past 3 seasons. An extremely quick and skilful young player who can take a big mark. Ryan is also very versatile and has great endurance. He has played some great games for the club this year and has also represented the MFL at Inter-League. Was the VCFL medalist for the best player in the 2005 MFL Grand Final. 84 senior club games. Triple Premiership player.

Jarrod Maskell

JARROD MASKELL – A high leaping and strong marking ruckman in his first season with the Purples. Originally from Shepparton in the GVFL, Jarrod has fitted into the team nicely and played an important role in the ruck and up forward. His strength around the ground and long kicking has been a real asset to the club. 18 senior games.

Adam Quarrell

ADAM QUARRELL - A very courageous player who leads by example. Adam is an extremely strong mark for his size, and a very important utility, who has given the club great service both on and off the field over many years. Has played over 250 senior games for the Purples and always gives his all. Was also part of the successful MFL interleague team this season. Adam was the club’s 2005 Premiership Captain. 270 senior games. Triple Premiership player.

Ricky Barnes

RICKY BARNES – Talented and hard working utility in his first season out of the Under 17’s, although he has been playing some senior footy for the past 3 seasons. Ricky has played some important roles in the midfield and defence this season and has been a Captain of the U18 interleague team. His strong making and hardness at the footy has been a real asset. 36 senior games.

Alistair Corry

ALISTAIR CORRY – A very talented and quick player recruited this season from Picola, where he was the PFL Rookie of the year in 2007. Has the ability to play anywhere on the ground and can be very damaging with his height, pace and penetrating kicking. Will play a big role for the Purples on Grand Final day. 18 senior games. more -->

Drew Barnes

DREW BARNES - An extremely hard working and fearless young player who has played the majority of the past 2 seasons with Geelong in the VFL. Drew is a former Murray Bushranger and is a very talented and determined player, who never shirks an issue. Strong marking, ferocious tackling, long kicking and hard running are feature’s of his game. Was a VCFL and MFL representative this season, and the 2007 VCFL medalist. Also 2006 club B&F winner. 70 senior club games. Triple Premiership player.

Troy Snelson

TROY SNELSON - An extremely hard at it and skilful midfielder, who loves to kick a goal. A former GVFL player who has again had a fantastic season with the Purples. His hardness at the footy, hard running, tackling and ball winning ability are a real asset for the team. Was also part of the successful MFL interleague team this season. Was the club’s leading vote getter in this year’s O’Dwyer medal. 44 senior club games, Dual Premiership player. more -->

Matt Davies

MATT DAVIES - A fearless and extremely quick rover/forward, who has had a fantastic season and is an important member of the team. Matty is a very talented young player who has a great work ethic and loves to take the opposition on and kick a goal. His relentless pressure and tackling is a feature of his game. Has kicked 46 goals this season and was the clubs leading vote getter in the Barooga Sports Club award. 41 senior club games. 2007 Premiership player. more -->

Craig Whyte

CRAIG WHYTE - Fearless and hard at it midfielder, in his second season at the club, after being recruited from Kyabram. Has suffered injuries in his 2 seasons at the club though his fearless attack on the footy. After playing the off-season in Darwin, Craig has returned to the club this season to be an extremely valuable contributor. 27 senior games. 2007 Premiership player.

Brent Smith

BRENT SMITH - Veteran ruckman who has fantastic skills and loads of experience with Picola, Moama and Tongala. His season has been interrupted by injury, but has played an important back up and mentoring role this season. Was the 2006 Premiership Coach and is a dual Premiership player. 44 senior club games. more -->

Matt Smith

MATT SMITH – Very skillful utility, who returned to the club this season from Picola. His kicking ability and work rate has been a real asset. Can play in the midfield, in defence or forward with good effect. 23 senior games. more -->

Anthony Hill

ANTHONY HILL – A courageous and close checking defender who has had an excellent season. Has played some big roles for the club this season and continues to improve. His attack on the footy and ball winning ability cannot be questioned. 16 senior games.

Brodie Ross

BRODIE ROSS – Very tall young key position player who has had an excellent season. Can take a big grab and is an extremely straight kick. Brodie has improved greatly this season and will be an important player for the club into the future as he fills out and matures. Has gained experience this season up forward, in defence and in the ruck. Was nominated for Rookie of the year. 22 senior games.
