Nathalia's Ross Garner notched up his 200th senior milestone match with Nathalia on Saturday June 20th, 2009 against Cobram, matched played at Cobram (Round 11).
Ross "Barney" Garner was recruited to Nathalia from Katunga as a 19 year old ruckman in 1997.
Barney has since played all his football at Nathalia, and has been a fantastic recruit for the club. A hard running and high marking mobile key position player, Barney started at the club as a ruckman. Before becoming an outstanding centre half forward for several seasons, then last season taking on a defensive role, making life difficult for all opposition key forwards. His work rate on the field sets a fantastic example for his team-mates.
Off the field Barney is a very popular and valued player with the Purples players and supporters, however, he has gained the nickname "serial pest" for some of his off field antics and pranks.
Barney has played in all 4 premierships with the Purps and has been an integral part of the clubs recent success. Congratulations to Barney on reaching the 200 game milestone, his achievements to date and obtaining Life Membership with the Nathalia Football Club.
