Mulwala Netball Results Saturday 7/4/12
A great start to the season by the Mulwala girls with all teams performing extremely well against Rumbalara.
A Grade
The Mulwala girls started the season off with all guns blazing putting in a solid performance with a 36 goal victory against Rumbalara, 55-19. The Lions welcomed back Cara Wood and she didn’t miss a point putting in a top WD role creating turnovers for the 14-6 first quarter lead. The new defensive duo of top recruit Kate Lynch and Erin Crowhen caused chaos in the second term with numerous turnovers helping the side to a 28-13 half time lead. Natalie Ferguson stepped into the WA position in the third term and was dynamic and experienced in the attacking end, alongside the youth of Marissa, Steph and Emma. But the final term was the quarter to watch with the Lions steaming ahead and finishing the game off in style again with numerous turnovers all over the court. Kate Lynch and Cara Wood stood tall in the final term and Steph Beams and Marissa Thomas finished their hard work off in style with a 21-3 final term. $50 Award went to Kate Lynch, Lake Mulwala Sports Club Award to Cara Wood Ash Blake Beauty Therapy Award to Erin Crowhen.
B Grade
A great start to the season by the girls with Nat Ferguson dominating the centre and great drives from Molly in Wing Attack. Tayla was on fire in Goal Attack shooting 30 goals in her first game in B Grade and Dan putting in some lovely long shots as Goal Shooter. The defence end was tight with Kim and Bre sharing GD duties and Soph taking some great intercepts in GK. Final score was 48-21. $30 Award went to Nat Ferguson, Lake Mulwala Sports Club award to Sophie Taylor, Rena award to Molly Giggins and Brett James Coaches award to Tayla Smith.
C Grade
An excellent game by all the girls. After a strong 14-2 first quarter the girls played out the four quarters very well coming home with a convincing 37-17 win. Wingates Award to Lacey Stiles, Lake Mulwala Sports Club Mug Award to Laura Lavis, Lake Deck Café Award to Jess Panter.
C Reserve
The C Reserve girls had a fantastic game with a hard four quarter effort by all. The team showed tremendous flexibility with players rotating through positions with defender Ashlee Purtle getting a chance to show us her shooting style. This team has a good blend of youth and experience. Final score was 67-9 and awards to Zoe Urquhart, Brooke Matthews and Hayley Fry.
Under 17
An excellent first game for the Under 17 girls with strong defence by Tori, Hannah and Morgan limiting Rumbalara’s goals. At the other end Clare and Jess combined well in the goal circle. Strong support by Mia and Kiandra proved valuable all through the game. Highly experienced stand-in coach Steph Beams is thanked for her amazing enthusiasm. Well done girls with the final score 44-10. Under 15
Great team effort by the girls to start the season with good movement in the goal circle. The team needs to do some more work on the fundamentals. Some tight defensive work was on show with Darcee and Lauren working well together with Rumbalara’s goalers displaying excellent shooting. Final score was 36-20. Judds Mensland Award to Tea Glass, Lakeside Kebabs Award to Georgia Glass, Yarrawonga Bakery Award to Tegan Morton Kelz Kandy Koaches Award to Lauren Pitches.
Under 13

Under 12
A fantastic start to the 2012 season with a convincing win for our newly formed Under 12 team. Chloe Bogle and Lauren Browning combined well in girls opening the game with 10 goals and keeping Rumbalara scoreless in the first quarter. Ashley Churchin, Maddy Cooksey, Abbey Hicks and Alaina Bruce played well all game throughout the centre court, providing strong leads and plenty of options down the court. Hayli Garner and Jordy McCarthy played well together in defence, effecting a number of turnovers and applying plenty of pressure down the court. Well done on a great team effort and an excellent start to the season. Final score 43-7.
