NO HELP NO GAME - There have been a number of players not doing the water carrying or canteen duty or turning up very late to do their allocated job. The club will impose a penalty for those players or parents not helping. If they don’t turn up or turn up late, they will get a double duty in the following 2 weeks, if they don’t do their job the second time, then the Club will not let them play for two matches. This will be a blanket policy to cover Senior and Junior players.

- Focus upon your child's efforts and performance rather than the overall outcome of the event. This assists your child in setting realistic goals related to his/ her ability by reducing the emphasis on winning.
- Teach your child that an honest effort is as important as victory, so that the result of each game is accepted without undue disappointment.
- Encourage your child to play always according to the rules.
- Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game.
- Remember that children learn best from example. Applaud good play by all players.
- If you disagree with an umpire or coach raise the issue through the appropriate channels rather than question their judgment and honesty in public.
- Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse.

- Applaud good performance and efforts by all players. When watching a game congratulate both teams on their performance regardless of the game's outcome.
- Respect the umpires' and coaches decisions. If there is a disagreement, follow the appropriate procedure in order to question the decision and teach children to do likewise.
- Never ridicule or scold a player for making a mistake during a competition. Positive comments are motivational.
- Condemn the use of violence in any form, be it by administrators, coaches, players, umpires or parents/ guardians.

CLUB GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES
The grievance procedure set out in this Rule applies to disputes under the AFL and Netball Victoria’s Constitutions between:
(i) a Member and another Member/Coach; or (ii) a Member and the Club.
The parties to the dispute or complaint must meet and discuss the matter in dispute, and, if possible, resolve the dispute within fourteen days or after the next committee meeting after the dispute comes to the attention of all of the parties or committees. The dispute or complaint must be put in writing to the general committee. Grievance forms available from committee members, coaches or the website.
If the parties are unable to resolve the dispute at the meeting, or by written reply, or if a party fails to attend that meeting, then the parties must, within ten days, hold a meeting in the presence of a mediator.
The mediator must be:
- A person chosen by agreement between the parties; or
- in the absence of agreement
- In the case of a dispute between a member and another member, a person appointed by the committee; or
- in the case of a dispute between a Member and the Club, a person who is a mediator appointed or
- employed by the Dispute Settlement Centre (Department of Justice).
A Member of the Club can be a mediator. The mediator cannot be a Member who is a party to the dispute. The parties to the dispute must, in good faith, attempt to settle the dispute by mediation.
The mediator, in conducting the mediation, must:
- give the parties to the mediation process every opportunity to be heard; and
- allow due to consideration by all parties of any written statement submitted by any party; and
- ensure that natural justice is accorded in the parties to the dispute throughout the mediation process
The mediator must not determine the dispute.
If the mediation process does not result in the dispute being resolved, the parties may seek to resolve the dispute in accordance with the Act of otherwise at law.
PLAYER WELFARE
The Management of Concussion in Australian Football
Concussion is a relatively common injury in Australian Football. It reflects a disturbance in brain function caused by trauma, rather than a structural injury. Resulting symptoms and changes in brain function are temporary and recover spontaneously. The recovery process however, is variable from person to person and injury to injury and may take from just a few minutes through to several weeks.
Symptoms of concussion typically include headache, blurred vision, dizziness and nausea. Brain function is also affected. Changes include confusion, memory loss and reduced ability to think clearly, concentrate and process information. These deficits can impair the way a player reacts during competition, which may put a player at risk of further head or musculoskeletal injury. Repeated head injury, particularly when the player has not yet fully recovered from a previous head injury, has been linked with a number of potential complications, such as prolonged symptoms and long-term deterioration of brain function. Therefore, it is important to make the diagnosis and manage the condition appropriately. This means keeping the player out of training and competition until fully recovered.
Any player who has suffered from a concussive injury must be referred for medical evaluation and clearance before being allowed to return to training or playing.
PLAYER WELFARE - Drug Policy
Commitment
The Deniliquin Rams Football Netball Club is committed to excellence on and off the playing arena and to the health and well-being of all members - players, officials and supporters. The use of alcohol and other drugs is a major health and social issue in Australian society today. Therefore, the Club will attempt at all times to minimize the harm arising from alcohol and other drug use to promote health by encouraging the moderate and responsible use of alcohol and to discourage the excessive or illicit use of any drug, including alcohol.
Principles
Whilst this policy covers specific situations in which alcohol and other drug issues arise, it is important to acknowledge that the policy will only be successful in preventing and minimizing alcohol and other drug related problems if a broad, supportive environment for the policy is created. It is particularly important that senior players, officials, parents and supporters provide a good example for younger and developing players by modelling responsible behaviour in terms of personal alcohol and other drug use. The Club prohibits any underage drinking. This means that all aspects of club life and operation need to be consistent with this policy.
Players under the Influence
Players who attend training or matches under the influence of alcohol or other drugs are a danger to themselves and other players. The danger may be either physical through affected co-ordination or aggression through reduced emotional control.
Therefore any player presenting for training or a match who in the opinion of the coach or other senior club official is under the influence of alcohol or other drug, will not be permitted to play or train. They could be asked to sit on the bench or be sent home. Reasonable care should be taken to ensure that they can go home safely.

This policy has been approved by the committee of Deniliquin Rams Football Netball Club for the 2020 season.

PLAYER WELFARE – Worksafe/AFL Victoria
Cyber safety Policy
“Cyberbullying is a way of delivering covert psychological bullying. It uses information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated and hostile behaviour, by an individual or group that is intended to harm others.” (Belsey 2007)
Cyberbullying includes, but is not limited to, the following misuses of technology: harassing, teasing, intimidating, racially vilifying or threatening another person by sending or posting inappropriate and hurtful e-mail messages, instant messages, text messages, phone messages, digital pictures or images, or Web site postings (including social network sites eg. Facebook or blogs) and the sending, receiving and/or possession of naked or sexually explicit images of a person. Club members must also be aware that postings from their individual accounts, whether done by themselves or another person will remain the responsibility of the account owner.
All members of the WorkSafe AFLV and individual clubs must be aware that in certain circumstances where a crime has been committed, they may also be subjected to a criminal investigation by Police over which the league and/or club will have no control. This particularly applies to ‘sexting’ where the image is of a person under the age of 18 years whereby Police will be informed immediately a club becomes aware of the situation.
Procedure
WorkSafe AFLV and/or club officials or members who feel that they have been the victims of such misuses of technology should save and store the offending material on their computer, mobile phone or other device. They should then print a copy of the material and immediately report the incident to the relevant club/league representative.
All reports of cyberbullying and other technology misuses will be investigated fully in accordance with WorkSafe AFLV Rule 5.0 and may result in a notification to Police where the WorkSafe AFLV, league or club is legally obliged to do so.
If the WorkSafe AFLV and/or individual League’s executive receives a complaint about an online issue, the allegations will be forwarded to the relevant League Investigation Officer.
If there is evidence, charges will be laid and the complaint will proceed to the league’s Independent Tribunal, exactly the same as if the investigation relates to physical violence or other reportable offences.
Penalties
Any proven charges will automatically lead to a minimum of a two (2) match suspension for a registered player. In deciding the final penalty, consideration will be given to the seriousness of the act, the impact on the victim, the impact on the club/league/WorkSafe VCFL and the prior good history or otherwise of the player. Players charged with these types of offences for a second or subsequent time and where a suspension has been previously imposed will face deregistration.
Any player presented before the tribunal for the first or subsequent time on a cyber bullying offence must be aware that the penalties available to the tribunal members will cover the complete range including deregistration.
In the case of a non-playing club member being proved to have engaged in harassment or bullying, the club employing, engaging or otherwise associated with the person at the time of the conduct shall be deemed to be vicariously liable for the conduct of the person and shall pay to the League a penalty to be determined by the league.
Underlying Principles
The policy is written in light of the Mission Statement of the WorkSafe Victorian Country Football League whereby the WorkSafe VCFL aims:
To Develop, Foster, Co-ordinate and Sustain Australian Football at the Club and League level throughout Country Victoria.
Policy
The WorkSafe VCFL and its member clubs will develop and maintain rigorous and effective Cybersafety practices which aim to maximise the benefits of the Internet and ICT and allow for the effective operation of the WorkSafe VCFL and member leagues and clubs, whilst minimising and managing any risks.
These Cybersafety practices will aim to not only maintain a cyber safe sporting environment but also to address the needs of the league officials and club members to receive education about the safe and responsible use of present and developing information and communication technologies.
Associated issues the League will address include the need for relevant education about Cybersafety for the WorkSafe VCFL and its leagues & clubs, the need for ongoing funding for Cybersafety practices through inclusion in the annual budget, implications for the design and delivery of the cybersafety program, the professional development and training, disciplinary responses to breaches of the cybersafety policy and the availability of appropriate professional support.
The WorkSafe VCFL takes seriously its responsibility in providing robust policy, guidelines and education for its members in relation to what is deemed acceptable and appropriate online behaviours. The League and/or club name, motto, crest, logo and/or uniform must not be used in any way which would result in a negative impact for the league or club and its members.
Members of the WorkSafe VCFL and its clubs have a responsibility to ensure that all online communications are in keeping with the leagues expectations in relation to appropriate and respectful interactions with officials, coaches, umpires, players, parents, spectators and sponsors. Players will not post inappropriate comments about individual WorkSafe VCFL or club members which if said in person during the playing of a game would result in disciplinary action being taken.

VOLUNTEERS
All club volunteers are required to hold a Working with Children Check and to provide these details to the Netball committee. This includes committee members, coaches, umpires and team managers.
Coaches
All coaches are volunteers and do not receive payment for their services. Coaches are required to complete the Netball Victoria “Select for Netball Success” course before participating in selection trials. U17, B and A grade coaches are required to have completed the minimum “Foundation” accreditation before the commencement of the season.
Any concerns surrounding a coach’s decisions or actions should be directed initially to the Team Manager who will pass the necessary information onto the committee if they deem the matter to be serious or can’t mediate the situation themselves.
A formal written complaint to the Executive of the Main Committee should be made if concerns cannot be resolved with the Netball Committee.
Team Managers
The Team Manager is responsible for liaising with coaches and players and assisting the coach during training and game day matches. Team Managers will be required to:
- Ensure all players are registered, have returned all necessary forms and are in full uniform
- Ensure all player names appear on the score sheet before they take the court
- Distribute weekly awards as directed by the coach
- Prepare a roster of timekeepers, scorers, primary carers and canteen shifts
- Return scoresheets and voting slips to the match day box at the end of each game
- Prepare a media report (or assign a delegate) for the paper
- Coaches will select their own Team Manager but expressions of interest can be given to the Netball Committee who will pass them onto the relevant coach.
Scorers/Time Keepers
Each team must supply one scorer for each game in addition to a timekeeper for home games. The Murray League By-Laws state that scorers and time keepers must be 16 or older. Each team manager will either prepare a parent/player roster for scoring duty, or nominate a regular scorer. Both team scorers must sit together for the entire match and must use the Murray Netball League official score sheet. Only under extreme circumstances can scorers or timekeepers be replaced during the game. Scorers must sign the score sheet and ensure that both team captains and umpires sign the score sheet. Instructions for scorers and timekeepers are provided in each team folder. Team managers must ensure that scorers and timekeepers are competent and aware of their duties. The match day coordinator can provide assistance if necessary.
Umpires
- Umpires will be sourced both internally and externally of the Club in order to provide badged umpires where possible.
- Any person wishing to learn to umpire should contact the Umpire Coordinator.
- All umpires must have a minimum Accreditation Level 1, theory mark and attend or have attended an accredited umpire’s course.
- Learner umpires are NOT permitted to umpire the 11 and under age group
- Umpires for A & B grade matches must be confident and know their International Netball Federation rules to a high degree. All Umpires for A & B grade must be badged.
- Umpires for senior grades and U17 shall wear white skirt/shorts and a while polo. Umpires for all other junior grades may wear black pants or shorts.
- Umpires must not umpire more than 2 games in one day.
- Any concerns regarding umpires are to be directed to the Umpire Coordinator. Refer to the ‘Umpire Fact Sheet” on the website for further information.
Netball Sub Committee
The Netball Committee is made up of two executive members (Junior and Senior Coordinator) and a minimum of five (5) interested persons with roles outlined above. The process of the election of committee members is outlined in the Netball By-Laws. Meeting are held monthly but extra-ordinary meetings may be called as required, especially at the start of the season.
The Netball Sub Committee is a ‘subcommittee’ of the Deniliquin Rams Football Netball Club’s General Committee.

Junior Sport Policy
Purpose The purpose of the Junior Sport Policy is to ensure the provision of opportunity to all young participants within our organisation to develop and enrich their lives through football and netball
Objectives The objectives of the DRFNC Junior Sport Policy are to:
- provide young people with the best possible sporting experience;
- encourage life long and active participation in football and netball;
- foster supportive environments for enjoyable participation in a wide variety of physical activities, through the development of skills and good sporting behaviour;
- encourage the allocation of appropriate and safe resources and facilities;
- ensure equal opportunities for all young people to participate in football and netball;
- demonstrate a consistent and coordinated approach to junior sport in the community.
Principles The principles of the DRFNC Junior Sport Policy are:
a) Participation in junior football and netball is characterised by an emphasis on enjoyment and fun;
b) The nature of junior football and netball competitions should differ from that experienced by adults in that emphasis is placed on;
- Participation;
- Development of skills;
- Enjoyment; and
- Improvement.
Junior football and netball provides for involvement in physical activity in a way that promotes immediate and long-term benefits.
These benefits include: higher levels of fitness; better health; social interaction; and satisfaction derived from skilled performance in individual and group activities
Competition
The Deniliquin Rams Football Netball Club junior participants should be taught that "winning" and "losing" are merely results of all sporting competitions. There should not be an over - emphasis on winning in junior competition. The emphasis should be on the quality of the experience and its appropriateness to the age and ability of the participant. All Deniliquin Rams Football Netball Club junior participants should be encouraged to achieve, do their best and develop their full sporting potential. Challenging competition is one element of this developmental process. In keeping with a "Sport for All" philosophy, the Deniliquin Rams Football Netball Clubshould make adequate provision for appropriate levels of competition for junior and should cater for all levels of ability, ensuring a satisfying experience for all participants. For 17 years and over, differences in strength, physique and stamina need to be considered when selecting participants.
Participation
The Deniliquin Rams Football Netball Club provides young people, of all ability, with a quality sporting experience so they can participate to their full potential. Our club will ensure that these participation opportunities are coordinated and appropriate for the age and development of the young participant.
The Club aims to:
- encourage optimum skill development;
- promote healthy and enjoyable involvement; and
- assist players in the transition from junior football /netball to the adult game.
