FOSTER FOOTBALL CLUB Inc.
President’s Report
I am pleased to present my President’s report to the Foster Football Club AGM
for the 2020 year.
Who would have thought that with the success of the 2019 season and preparations well in place for 2020 that the year would come to a grinding halt. The effects of Covid 19 on Community Sport and our Club have been devastating for all with no Football & Netball along with Social functions for the whole 2020 year.
Coaches and players had commenced pre- season training under strict Covid safe guidelines but the State Government cancellation of all Community sport finished the season before we commenced.
The future of our Clubs direction was also ongoing as we waited on AFL Gippsland G25 report and results for the future of the six Clubs remaining in the Alberton League. I would like to thank Ian Lyon for his input into the many submissions presented by our Club as to the future direction of Gippsland football.
In the end the only option for our League was for the six Clubs to join with the Mid Gippsland League under their guidelines. Both Leagues have continued to meet over this period and the move forward has been approached in a positive and professional manner.
We are sorry to see the end of the historic Alberton League but with no options of additional Clubs we need to move forward for the future.
Mid Gippsland for 2021will gives us stability moving forward and the Executives and the remaining 8 club delegates of Mid have made the transition into there league a smooth transition and welcoming.
The FFNC will be entering Senior, Reserves and Under 18 football teams into the new competition. With Mirboo North having the same jumper Design as our club we are required to have a clash Guernsey the design will be a yellow Guernsey with a black sash.
The Central Gippsland Junior Competition held on a Sunday will hold u15 u13 u11.
U15s will have the option of playing on the sat with most Mid Gippsland clubs having junior teams in this competition and I feel our club should look at this our juniors are the future of our club and we have a great Auskick program with growing numbers.
Our women’s football team will continue playing in the AFLGW competition and Our youth Girls will enter the SJFL Competition both playing on a Sunday.
Congratulations and good luck to our local young gun Ryan Angwin who has been drafted into the AFL system at GWS.
Thank you to Peter & Terri Bohn for their efforts fundraising in 2020. (100club, Raffles, wood cutting and splitting and follow up with sponsors)
Marilyn Fett has worked tirelessly keeping COVID-19 protocols up to date and the club is a safe environment for our coaches and players. Maz has kept the club operating making sure we do not fall behind with the admin.
Our football ground and its surrounds continued to be kept in good condition thanks to Geoff McGraw and his band of helpers.
Thank you to Sponsors and those who have taken up memberships, made private donations to support the FFNC during 2020.
Even though we did not play a game in 2020 we thank our Coaches (Senior) Sam Davies, (Reserves) Wayne Sparkes (Thirds) Billy Davey (Youth Girls) Will Kranen and our (Women’s) Col Pulham for their efforts preseason 2020 and we look forward to 2021.
Thank you to all our Committee for their support throughout 2020 the work you continued to do behind the scenes has given the club good foundation for 2021.
After 3 years as President, I will be vacating the position, I would like to thank the FFNC for there support and the opportunity to take on this roll. It has been a great experience and an honor and privilege to work with such great people on the committee, at such a proud club.
I will continue to follow and support FFNC and wish the club all the best in future years.
